LandyManLuke
Mantec are undoubtedly the best, but you pay more for them. i've had mine fitted for 5 years, with a 33" tyre on it, and i've still got a back door in one piece, that's why i fitted one. mmgemini
I agree with Luke. Mantec are the best. I fitted mine in 2003, three trips to Africa and the back door opens. I stand on my spare wheel every timne I camp and de-camp. mike FOAK I can cause trouble in an empty house.
draper40
The only trouble is on a limited budget is it really worth it for that price? Pete
LandyManLuke
That's your decision, I made mine and bought a mantec.
Ben_J85JTY
Mantec are good, and having just fitted one to a mates 110 they are very easy t fit too. I have had a pivlock one fitted for about 5 years, ever since my rear window smashed and covered me in glass while off roading. The 265 Mud Terrain fitted to the back door was enough to flex the glass! Like Mike, I used to stand on the wheel whenever I put bits and pieces on the roof. I sold that on Ebay for about £35 and bought a used Britpart one which opens with the door. The quality seems fairly good so far and I would still stand on that one. The britpart ones are a bit cheaper than the Mantec one, for a similer design. New, the are about £
draper40
How much did you get your used one for, cause that seems like the best idea. Pete
mmgemini
Like Mike, I used to stand on the wheel whenever I put bits and pieces on the roof. How many times have you slipped off the wheel when standing on it ?? mike At least three times in wet weather
The Badger
One point that is very important too when considering a spare wheel carrier is the rear bumper, corner bumpers etc. I have fitted a NAS rear step bumper and the only carrier that would fit is the Mantec as well as the rear step. However if you have corner bumperets, Im pretty sure some spare wheel carriers won't fit too or you need do something else. At the end of the day, the mantec one I have fit's / works and does not squeek.
