white90
Check the turbo spindle for anthing more than a mil or two of freeplay blue smoke=burning oil, so oil is getting into the intake/cylinder somehow. you could pull the glow plugs to see if any are excessivley oiled. dantd5
When my car first smoked "blue", I had to erase and rewind my thoughts. DOH .. I had filled almost 80 litres with PETROL... Sure landy is a diesel 110 99 model... Maybe you got traces of petrol in the diesel tank?
Jon W
Check the timing. My timing had moved and it was causing lots of bluey white smoke on start up as it was obviously fueling at the wrong time. Jon
BogMonster
Valve stem seals are another possibility I think
Les Henson
Glow plugs not working will cause a puff of smoke on start-up, but only for a few seconds and then not at all for the rest of the day until the engine has been switched off for several hours. Worn stem seals or guides will let a small amount of engine oil to drain into the cylinder from the head overnight and cause the same thing. Briefly revving the engine at any time - hot or cold and getting a puff of smoke is a typical symptom of worn stem seals or guides. Retarded timing will cause grey-ish smoke on start-up (identified by intermittent puffs), which gradually goes as the engine warms up. You can identify the smoke by smelling it. Les.
