garymorris
Hello Right , I could do with a cad package to draw up steel fabrications that I need to make , It doesn't need to be 3D , it needs to fairly easy to use and reasonably cheap ! Anybody got any recommendations ? Cheers Gary
rtbarton
CadStd Lite - very easy to use, it's free although you can buy a more sophisticated version. I use it instead of AutoSketch.
HoggyN
I've got Solidworks and lots of people I know swear by it. I seem to spend most of my time swearing at it.

Orange
Have a look in the CAD Archive. I'm fairly sure there are a couple of threads discussing the options for cheap or free CAD software. Personally, I use AutoCAD.... Frown if you like, but it's intuitive and easy to use. Unfortunately my most up-to-date version is only 2D Lite at work, but I've solved that at home... mattltm
I use Sketch Up all the time for small, simple projects. Very easy to use if you watch a few of the introduction videos and tips. http://sketchup.google.com/
Quagmire
Solidworks! Muchos cash though if you pay for it. I used it at Uni
will_warne
If you plan on doing tubework then you NEED Bend Tech Pro. You will save the purchase price in wastage on just one car build and it makes complex bending in 3D a doddle B)
