td5 crank bolt

hi . everyones been really helpfull so far thanks.

im rebuilding a td5 engine. does anyone have any ideas on how to tighten the crank bolt back to its original torque. i thinks its about 425 its got to be at.

theres got to be any easy way of doing it.

i would imagine the biggest issue is stopping the engine from turning.

There will probably be a position on the flywheel that you can use to lock up the crank while tightening the pulley.

While this thread is live, the second cambelt change is due: can anyone tell be the AF size of the bolt which holds the crank pulley on on a 2.5TD? Thanks.

IRRC -

30mm - 200Tdi crank bolt

41mm - TD crank bolt

to pull it up I've just locked the transmission in low 1st and with diff lock on - then pulled the bolt up with a 6' scaff tube over the breaker bar, stand on wings and pull/push/swear until veins pop out of neck :blink:
