gelf
Are P38s as bad as Discos for tin worm? The sills on my P reg disco are terrible, and i would be looking at similar age P38s. So where should i check?
sheltie50
I really don't think corrosion is a problem on the P38 my 95dse is almost corrosion free! but someone might know better, the only trouble Ive seen was just below the rear windows at the rear corner and might have been more to do with that one, the real trouble is the electronics which you must check very very carefully. q-rover
Check the chassis from the rear wheels and back, especially where the rear bumper fits. Otherwise I havn't found or heard of any particular scarestories.
geoffbeaumont
Tailgates still seem to rust a bit, though no-where near as badly as only the original Range Rover. The P38 is much less rust prone than the mkI Discovery.
Darren Roberts
Are P38s as bad as Discos for tin worm? The sills on my P reg disco are terrible, and i would be looking at similar age P38s. So where should i check? Bottom tailgates are as bad as the classics. Had a P38 County (diesel) on a V plate and the outer skin parted company from the shell. Personally I'd say that the reliability of the other stuff was more an issue than rot!!!!
geoffbeaumont
I wouldn't say they were as bad as the lower tailgate on the classics... They rust, yes, but not as badly as that! I think I went through three (second hand) lower tailgates in the four years I had my classic.
