i am going tonight to look at a disco 1 200tdi

What should i be looking for?

i i know to check engine, running gear and chassis but are there other hidden places to have a poke about?

sills, arches (or are these not a problem on 3 doors?)

cheers!

3 doors rust just as much as 5 doors, namely in the following areas:

front panel,

front inner wings

Front bodymount/footwell area

Sills (inner and outer)

boot floor and supports

Rear body cross member and body mounts

anywhere else made of steel.

;)

had a good look round it, clean as a whistle, engine was cold and it started first turn of the key.

as for rust, very very little, body mounts were fine, chassis was fine.

props were tight and the gearbox was smooth.

bought it, pick it up tomorrow!

I only bought it to mess about with offroading, so not bothered if anything does fail.

I know someone in Chesterfield that good for welding disco bits...

...for future reference

Steve.

hahah thanks, im a dab hand at welding myself so no worried in the slightest!

as ive had an even better look round it today, its had almost all the welding done on it, the inner arches have been replaces and the sills have been done!

The boot floor has a hole about the size of a 50p but thats gonna be chopped off soo anyways
