ajh
What exactly needs to be done to convert the swivels from Railko bushings to roller-bearings?
LR90
Sorry, can't answer your Q but I'm interested to know why you might want to do this? Railko is pretty old tech but is probably more robust and provides some damping.
Retroanaconda
You'd need the later swivel balls definitely and quite likely the later housing or top pin perhaps? I'm sure there are likely to be other differences. I'd second the above view though, how come the interest in 'upgrading'?

ajh
It's a 1992 110, mostly just wondering at this point. If it means new swivel balls it's not going to happen since I just replaced them. I just found the top pin really tight, I haven't had a chance to get a spring scale yet though or more shims (but they seemed to take a lot of them at the time), on my list of things to tackle next week so I was curious. Thanks.
Les Henson
The swivel balls have to be replaced - the railko seat is just a clean hole in the swivel ball, but the taper bearing has a lip for the track to fit to. Les.
Phil Hancock
Les what stops the railko just pushing thro?
Les Henson
The railko is stepped so that it only goes in so far. Hole for the railko bush in the swivel ball - You press the railko in until it sits firmly against the ball. The top pin for a railko is also a larger diameter than the taper roller bearing, so I would guess that the swivel housing would also have to be replaced. Les.
