Jimmy Two-Jacks
Hi all, I have been thinking of fitting some jackable sills to my 90 I have recently replaced the powder form sills with galvanized ones so I can anchor the seatbelts to something other than rust. My question is am I right in thinking that jackable sills fit in front of the inner sill and locate into the tubular outrigger and bolt between the bulkhead and inner sill near the door post? western
Yes, they only replace the external alloy panels, the bodyside frame [the bit you had galvanised] stays in place.
Retroanaconda
I thought the sill members already were galvanised? They certainly are on all of mine.
western
the PO must have done it, mine are original & defo not galvanised on my '89
gruntus
I bought some off ebay as the ones for my 86 plate 90 where decaying, and guess what? They are galved! I dont recal what year they were off but they are original items (seals etc stuck to them and gunk on them) so I guess LR started galving them on later models? (Retro what age is your motor?). I also just fitted Rock Sliders (whats the difference between them and jackable sills?) one end has a long tube that locates in the rear outrigger and the front is secured through the bulkhead/outrigger bolt. Retroanaconda
My 90 is a 1992 and it has galved sills. The 110 is a 1993 and I believe it does too. Even the Series III (1972) has them, but they may have been replaced at some time in it's long life.
Litch
Original ones galvanised on a 1986 90.
gruntus
Thats really weird, the ones on my 86 90 rebuild were completely goosed and had to be replaced. This is one of those odd Land Rover X-Files! G
