steve-c
Hi guys and gals How can you tell if your swivels have one shot grease in them or you have ran out of oil ? and if they do have grease in them does it ever need topping up or changing ? Cheers Steve
landroversforever
The grease is in theory there for the life of the truck. Have your swivels got a drain hole in them or not? they only take something like 0.33L in each side of oil, so if there is a drain hole I'd pull it and see what comes out. Les Henson
Undo the filler/level plug and stick your finger/straw/sliver of wood, in there and see what is on it. Les.
Mo Murphy
Steve, the swivel grease is quite runny and some should come out if you remove the drain plug. Mo
landroversforever
Depends on the age Mo... later axles, designed for grease, don't have the drain holes.
Mo Murphy
Indeed Ross, but the age of the axle isn't mentioned. Mo

Retroanaconda
If original then it should be oil in there at that age. Although a lot of people put grease in when they start leaking the oil out (grease stays in better). I'm an oil man myself
