mr_s
I've recently bought a 1988 RRC and for it's sins, someone's let the fuel tank fill with water. I realised this after I tried to start it with said water, unfortunately this has now filled the fuel lines with said water and they are frozen solid.... Any bright (sensible! lol) ideas on how I could defrost them? Ta!

Ta! drop a match into the tank hairdryer would be a sensable option though i guess
LandyManLuke
Only sensible and workable option I can think of is to get the vehicle in a garage and warm it up that way. Hair dryer would probably work, but you've only got to miss one bit and you're still stuck, and it would take ages. In this weather I wouldn't be surprised if the first bit you melted would have frozen again by the time you'd got to the other end.
Bowie69
Paint stripping heat gun would be faster than a hair dryer, but a fan heater shoved under it could well defrost the lot, even outside....
FridgeFreezer
Got to get it warm somehow, and change the fuel filter as that is unlikely to empty itself of water even if you get clean fuel through.
mr_s
Good plan with the fan heater, reckon I'll give that a bash - and fuel filter is first on the list of things to change!! Cheers chaps (and/or chapesses if appropriate!)
SteveRK
How are you sure that water has got into the fuel lines?
mr_s
I've had the pump out and what's in the line is frozen solid, that's how!
zim
Return to seller ! I'd disconnect the lines where possible (fuel filter, fuel rail, return to tank etc) and let them defrost in a warm garage. G
