MECCANO
HELP!!! I'm in the middle of replacing the bearings and synchro cones on an lt77 suffix E gearbox, using a master rebuild kit from Mr Croft Reading through the manual as i go it says: "It should be noted that the second gear synchromesh cone has larger slipper slots than the other synchromesh" But not that i can see. Ive compared the original cones in the box which all look the same, and similarly what is in the rebuild kit ( which are also the same). I can only think im looking at the wrong slots?!? Thanks in adavance Chris

MECCANO
that'll be this thread -- LT77 gearbox rebuild Guys, i think the larger slots only occurs on later boxes, to cure wear issues with the 2nd gear synchro. I found a picture of the differnc eon an sd1 forum that illustrates an lt77 rebuild. The slots between the contact pads are about 1.5 times the size of the other synchros.
