ToyRoverlander
Also I notice in my line of work that only the better automotive engines tend to get marinised by the idependant marine engine builders. The current crop include BMW, Toyota, and Hyundai, but no Landrover engines! Surprise surprise That dynosheet is insane! That would be a very nice engine for in a 110! The torque is just crazy! Looks electronically controlled, I don't think mechanical diesels will have such a flat torque curve..

Looks electronically controlled, I don't think mechanical diesels will have such a flat torque curve.. That's the OEM fuel pump and fully mechanical injection, a good old fastioned big-wire-to-start, small-wire-to-stop diesel engine. The pump did have a bit of a crazy mod where (as far as I could tell) the boost fueling control had an arm added through the cap on the pump to a lever that turned it on full throttle, like a sudden mechanical over fuelling sytem. Plus a custom turbo and forged pistons, but standard Toyota head, cam, etc. The engines are about £75K though!
nicks90
toyota 4.2td with gearbox and transfer box weighs 360kg according to the yota owners club, cant see that being massively much more than a 200tdi with gearbox and t/case. as long as the flippin thing will physically fit in the engine bay of a defender, seems like a superb engine choice. wish i had the money and time to do something like that. It does! I know of at least 2 110's with Toy 4.2's in them. One of them is here in the netherlands, it's, IIRC, the 24Valve version with the autobox and everything. Should be awesome when finished! Soren Frimodt
I seriously doubt that! The weight alone on a rover v8 (and I think we can all agree on the fact that it is light) is 170kgs. Then add gearbox and transfer. A 2,25P or D weighs a shade over 200kgs. Then add gearbox and transfer. No way it is that lightweight. Does it even have an Ali head?
