Peter
Been thinking about trading up to a new Defender. However was under the impression the VED (car tax) was going to be in the £400+ mark. According to various websites it states that the VED is now £200 on Defenders. Have I missed something. i.e. news story about this ? I find the new rates really confusing. Steve Hiatt
I noticed this on one website yesterday too. As far as I'm aware it's £400 plus for the SW, @£200 for anything commercial, including the utility. My current SW is definitely £400 plus. lynall
I might be wrong but i thought if it was a commercial ie hard top or truck cab it was 195 pounds. My neighbour has a nissan navara and thats 195 as its classed as a commercial and according to him all the pick ups are ie l200 and the like. Happyoldgit
I think they've re-classed all new build Defenders. My 110 Puma XS USW is £200 p/a, my previous 110 Puma XS CSW was £400.
MONKEYCOPPER
i just had reminder for mine, 04 110 csw td5, £245 for a year or 134.50 for 6 months
Steve Hiatt
I think they've re-classed all new build Defenders. The LR price list on their website suggests this too. I'm going to MJ Fews tomorrow, so I'll ask. It won't help the resale on the £400 ones if it's true
Steve Hiatt
All new Defenders are now commercial, apparently, so cheaper tax.
JJB Serenity
yet a McLaren MP4-12C costs just £205 a year to tax apparently See Here (scroll down to 0911)
WarPig
Peter, have a look on the Defender2 forum, the topic has been discussed over there. Basically, I think utility models made after 2010 (or similar) qualify for reduced price tax disc.
