SolihullBeast
Hello All, I have recently been trying to source a top oil cooler pipe for my 200tdi (Genuine). I got the bottom pipe from my local specialist and asked for the genuine item, they ordered it in and no problems, however when I asked them for the top pipe when it arrived it was Britpart, apparently they do not stock genuine in this item. So onto LR Series who I have been told are good with genuine bits, ordered the part, it arrived this morning, but low and behold... the dreaded blue sticker. On calling them to query why I had been sent pattern, I was told that the genuine item is no longer manufactured, probably because there is a lack of demand for older parts like that, strange as most older oil cooler pipes leak! You may ask why i am so opposed to Britpart, well I am replacing the pipes because they leak, and in my experience with britpart their parts leak soon after fitting! So I was recommended that pirtek are the next best option, however a quick trawl of LR4x4 and several other places suggest although they do a great job, they can sometimes sting you on price? My questions are; Are pirtek likely to produce a better quality item than britpart? Has anyone had an oil cooler pipe made by them and remembered how much it cost? Are there alternatives to pirtek? Many Thanks Sam

mmgemini
Pirtec wouldn't do any pipe work for my gearbox oil cooler pipes apart from saying it would be 50 quid to TRY for the stuff. Northen Hose and Hydraulic on the other hand couldn't have been more helpful. Why not try the ****part one ?
Les Henson
I regularly get oil cooler/PAS pipes and suchlike repaired or copied by Pirtek in Swindon. I've never paid more than £28 for anything. I guess the branches are different to each other. Les.
ejparrott
Nuneaton hose and fittings have done the oil pipes for my 109, and also friends 200TDi 110 and 300TDi 110. Original end fittings, new rubbers, all jointed with compression fittings in situ to get lengths spot on. it was £50 for mine, which arent fitted yet, but both 110's have been running for some time, no problems. pat_pending
I think Pirtec is a franchise, so it all depends on how helpfull your local guy is, and yes, they can charge. Go to an agricultural dealer, if they don't make up hoses, they'll know who does. Personally I'd just fit the Britpart one.
Maverik
Do oil cooler pipes have "standard" fittings? I know power steering fitting are not standard...!
Les Henson
The end fittings can vary - banjo fitting (a hollow ring), or olive and nut - similar to a brake pipe end. You have to use the right fitting. Les.
mmgemini
AFAIK the 200Tdi has two oil pipe fittings. A normal old fashioned tapered end soldered to the tube with the nut over the top of the end. Can I as hell remember what it's called. Then the later type with a ring welded onto the tube using a rubber washer, as fitted to the 300Tdi. Now the later type were also fitted to the 200Tdi radiator using a conversion piece to allow the later type of oil pipe to be fitted. I did have a 200Tdi rad with those fittings fitted. The original 200Tdi were Imperial fittings. The 300Tdi metric fittings
