duncmc
Hi all. I am starting to plan for taking my engine out to strip/rebuild it. And I have googled how much the engine weighs, but have only found the 3.5V8 carb. Does anyone know how much the 3.9 Efi weighs with all the assemblies still on? I am thinking of engine stands, and what size trailer (load) it will go onto. Thanks. Duncan
Escape
I don't think there could be much difference in weight between the 3.5 carb and a 3.9 efi. Surely this should be well within the safety margins applied to engine stands etc.
Bowie69
230-250Kg at most I would say....
Highway_Star
2 blokes can lift one, if that helps. I don't mean 2 x weedy blokes, but not 2 x Geoff Capes either.

It is always good to give facts to a question . Ok, so what does a 3.5 carb engine weigh? Daan
duncmc
I have found a quote on the RPi Enginering website of "230kg" all in. It does not specify whether that is carb or Efi though.
mickeyw
I would read 'all in' to mean including ancillaries. Stuff like a start motor or alternator can weigh a fair bit individually. I can't imagine a carb or injected engine would weigh different enough to matter for the purposes referred to above.
duncmc
At 230kg even a small 500kg rated trailer would be fine to carry one. Better than putting an engine or bits of one in the back of a clean car.
Range Rover Blues
There won't be a huge difference between an EFi and a carb'ed engine anyway, the weight is in the crank and rods, not the plenum/manifold.
