Identifying Green Lanes

You will need to have a chat with the local Rights of Way officer at the local council. They have the "definitive map" of rights of way which gives the up to date status of the lanes and any TROs that are enforced on the lane.

You are limited (as I understand it) to Byways, and must keep off anything classified as Footpath or Bridleways.

There was a website called wayfinder (http://www.way-finder.co.uk/), which listed the rights of way, but it is not necessarily up to date and the status of the lanes should be checked with the council. Some councils also have what they call an interactive map on their sites.

All we ask is that you stay legal in order to keep lanes open for all

Best advice is to join a local group who know their stuff e.g. your local LR club will have a Rights of Way officer.

Check and double check Byway status with your local council RoW officer....
