need4speed
Ive recently looked to fitting my new seatbox. Its mint condition but of unknown origin. Are all defender seatboxes the same? Also, are all defender seatbox lids interchangeable?
Maverik
The lids are the same I belive, but there is a difference between and R380 base vehicle and a LT77, the opening where the tunnel is, is a different shape between the 2. The LT77 "opening" is narrow"er" and square looking, The R380 is more of a rounded opening and a bit wider I recal. Mav
need4speed
Thanks Mav. Just hope that when fitting the gearbox tunnel etc everything lines up. Knowing my luck, probably not
Mo Murphy
Stick a pic up of the tunnel flange and we can tell you what it is Mo
Litch
The lids are not all the same. I bought some new/take-off ones a couple of years ago to tidy-up my early seatbox but unfortunately they didn't fit. I can't remember exactly the difference but I think it they were slightly wider and the lip wouldn't fit inside the existing hole which meant that short of cutting the seatbox (which I wasn't going to do) the were no good. nickwilliams
Later (TD5 onwards) vehicles had the outer seats moved inwards by 25mm to give more elbow room on the door side. The centre seat is narrower and has narrower fixings. The outer seats have the same fixing centres but they are moved 25mm sideways on the seat box. Nick.
