HoSS
Actually why are they called 'snatch' - Is it cos they is all furry and a bit damp underneath...
western
that's what the were used for in Northern Ireland, 'snatching' suspects/terrorists off the streets or from their homes & bundle them into the vehicle & get out of the area quickly back to base. Davedef90
^^^^^^^ Are you sure???? I thought they were conceived and designed for vehicle borne patrolling in the cuds
jbs
The snatch land rovers were designed for use in rural patrolling and riots-for "snatching" rioters as they are light weight compared to the old APV's ( http://www.warwheels.net/LandyAPVindex.html) of the late 80's early 90's, and no one down in the cud's i.e.: XMG, East Tyrone etc did much movement in green vehicles when I did my time over there, most of it was done via CPV or covert patrol vehicle-that'd be a transit van or similar to me and you mainly used for transporting the blokes to drop off's in the middle of nowhere
Somethingwitty
All true... as is the fact that any loose debris (stones, nuts, bolts, empty cases) gets converted into a missile within the vehicle when it hits a mine or IED blast - the boffins knew this but your average tom understandably didn't (I doubt many of us would have thought of it) - hence an educational poster with the back end of a Snatch full of rubbish, entitled 'Nobody likes a dirty Snatch.'
