Rebuilding calipers

Recommended Posts

I started today rebuilding my calipers basing myself on the article of Les Hanson that can be found in the archive however I noticed that contrary to what Les writes (The two seals are different - the upper one is solid and the lower one has a groove around the inside edge), the one under metal seal is the grooved one. Calipers come off a D1.

I am aslo looking for the reference numbers of the rubber seals that sit between the 2 parts

Thanks for advice,

Henk

That's the arrangement mine had. Main seal (lower one) is solid section, wiper seal (upper one that fits inside retainer ring) has a groove in it.

The gallery seals for the 90/110 calipers I did are part number 17H8764L. Other ones are RTC1137 and 3851-739. See links for nominal sizes, measure your old ones to see what size you need.

i concur, wiper seal has the groove which is closest to the disc.

on another note, i have given up rebuilding calipers. by the time you have the seals and pistons i dont think you are far off the £30 for a new caliper anyway.
