jad
Hi I have had my bulkhead galvanised and need to re-drill and tap some holes. Previously my cars have been metric so this is presenting a problem! Can anyone tell me the the thread size of the bolts the windscreen pivots round, the 3 bolts (either side) that hold the "check strap mounts" to stop the door opening too far and also the connection for the fuel feed pipe for a 2.6L, 6 cylinder 109? If that's not too much to ask!..... :-S Thanks for your help Jad
Retroanaconda
I think the windscreen bolts are 1/4" UNF, same goes for the three bolts that hold the check strap thingies on. The windscreen bolts are shouldered too, but that won't affect your tapping operation. Not sure about the fuel pipe I'm afraid.
jad
Thanks Retro really helpful I have the windscreen bolts and they have lasted the last 35 years well enough so wont be buying any more I think! If someone can help me with the fuel pipe feed that would be awesome! Thanks Jad
Phil Hancock
I think you will find that the windscreen bolts are actually 5/16"UNF and the door check bracket bolts are 1/4"UNF.
jad
Thanks Phil Ill have a compare of them tomorrow. Jad
Retroanaconda
They may well be, it was a long time ago I did mine! If they are about 8mm then it's 5/16". If about 6mm then 1/4". Should be fairly obvious though as you say by comparing them!
secondjeremy
I think the later windscreen bolts are metric threaded - so it would be M8. What the crossover is I don't know.
Phil Hancock
I think the later windscreen bolts are metric threaded - so it would be M8. What the crossover is I don't know. 1980 on i would guess.
ejparrott
My 1983 Series 3 has M8 hinge bolts.
Phil Hancock
That figures being after 1980.
ejparrott
I think The 109 also has metric bolts, but I think that had a bulkhead change, not too sure, but as with most things Series, you'll need to check what you've actually got.
ajh
Anyone have the part number for the washers that go with the pivot bolts (the shouldered ones)?
