need4speed
Am i correct in thinking that it is not essential for the PIP and SAW wires to be shielded? Phil

need4speed
Ok Nige. Will i have enough shielded VR cable from your kit left over to do the SAW/PIP wires with that?
need4speed
Scratch that. I obviously need single core screened. Not the 2 core which the VR is......
FridgeFreezer
I've never bothered screening them, neither did Ford. Ford do screen the VR sensor wires but I've never found that to be critical.
Mr Noisy
I used left over screened VR cable for saw and pip but that was because my edis was in engine bay and ecu inside car Edis unit has some form of shielding on the wires originally! Chazza
Whether to or not, depends on how much EMF noise is close to the sensor wires and the easiest way to find noise, is to put an off-tune transistor radio next to suspect items such as the alternator, so that it can be heard. Separating the sensor wires from the source of the EMF, significantly reduces the chance that the EMF will interfere with the voltage signals in the item you are trying to protect. If the wires can't be moved far enough away, shield them. Remember that very low voltages can give false signals, Cheers Charlie
