megasquirt problems in Polish competition

As it is basically a glorified ignition amplifier, and all of them I have come across required a heatsink of some description, I would say yes.

It has a metal back to it as well, and is designed to be mounted to bodywork, (not the engine!) so one can reasonably assume as they didn't rubberise it it was left metallic for a reason -heat loss.

oops explanation wasn't complete.
I modified the weterproof box as I didn't had enough space where I had space to fit this.
Made the cover out of an aluminium plate and there I mounted the edis module on.
plate is 2mm and 15x 30cm, so think that isn't to bad?

Bowie, I always have that kind of "luck". If you says it can't break I will break it or it get damaged. Frustrating, but after all those years you"re getting used to it.

CwazyWabbit, good idea, wil do this and put the result also over here!

  • 1 month later...

Me again with the EDIS problem.

A while ago I said that it fired on all 8 plugs, it did as you felt the power. Now I wanted to change the plugs, didn't had the time to work further on it, and it fired again on only 6 plugs.... went a little grrrr....
SO tried the other (old) EDIS module and the same.
Checked again the wire that goes to the coil pack and is responsible for those 2 cilinders, still fine! when I move the wire arround it still gives a signal.
Then I took the papers you gave me to measure the voltage:
Pin 8 - 9 - 11 is 13,45V
Pin 12 isn't constant it oscillate between the 10 - 11V. So not good at all.
Did the test with both EDIS modules and same result. WOuld it be possible that it is the plug that fits on the edis module that causes the problems?
Maybe that caused the smell on the EDIS module and isn't the module broken after all?
Thanks again!
Regards
Alain
