Disco-Ron
I'm going to be re routing the transmission cooler pipes on my 90 and wondered if I can get away with cutting the original metal pipe alongside the engine sump and simply using half inch rubber pipe with clips. Or is the pressure likely to blow the pipes apart.... Thanks
Team Idris
According to Ashcroft it can go high when it goes into lockup? I've had 3/8" rubber pipe on for ages, but I rarely take it out of second gear. I can say for sure that those intercal coolers everyone uses don't do much over 100psi, and that should be well within rubber hose capability. Double hose clip and good hose should do it. Escape
Quentin used rubber hose with good clips to move the cooler lines when fitting a Bosch 4.6 to his RRC, and they seem to be holding OK. Has been used both on the highway (with lock-up) and under heavy load.
Bowie69
It's low pressure in those pipes, it's the return from the box, so all the energy is gone, with barbed fittings and hose clips you should be fine.
toenden
Hi Our 110" familycar/horsebox hauler/vacation car have been with hoses like that for the last 100k km only problem being me not making "trompets" on the pipeends before fitting the hoses first time around (and even then it took some good 25k km before it blew of one of the hoses).
