jeffd
A while back I replaced the front discs on my Td5 130 with Paddocks own and the pads with Mintex. Since then I have put up a terrible squealing whilst braking. I have tried the mintex grease for the backs of the pads and copper grease - great for a few miles only. It concerned me that the mintex pads came with no backing or retaining clips (the originals were worn). The paddocks discs now need replacing - any advice on how to avoid the same problem again ? rrr47
Did you bed the pads-in? Are the discs scored or wavy? A cheap solution is to remove the pads and file them flat and try to bed them in again.
Mutley
Put Mintex discs on rear of the 300tdi 90 last year with no issues came with mintex pads and at a good price too, if that helps?
eds
Mintex discs and pads work for me too :-)
=jon=
You can buy the anti-squeal shims separately.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-ANTI-SQUEAL-SELF-ADHESIVE-BRAKE-PAD-SHIMS-SET-OF-4-LARGE-FITS-ANY-CAR-/291458291665?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43dc4497d1 I put similar on my Mazda which has race pads fitted (no backing and stupidly noisy compound!) - shut them up totally... Les Henson
Mintex are OE spec. Excellent quality, durability, and performance. It's unlikely that the discs are the problem as they are just machined cast iron, so anti-squeal shims are probably all you need.
