FLASH
Probably been asked before but will a 300 head go on a 200 with a little work.
miketomcat
I believe it's a direct fit but you need to swap the pistons as well. Mike
vulcan bomber
It will indeed bolt straight on... The head gaskets are the same for both engines. The injectors do fire into different parts of the cylinder so although it will work it's not a perfect solution.
ejparrott
For best results, change to 300 pistons too
FLASH
Will be doing a full rebuild so a piston change is not a problem I was just wondering what I would need to do I fancy putting on a performance head from turner or acr . L19MUD
and then sell your 200tdi head and get a big chunk of money back as they are becoming hard to get now
FLASH
I did a compression test tonight 1 to 4 read 20,18,21,10 bar possably a burnt valve as tweaked pump and turbo because I have 35's on does not do anything to strenuous like offroad or towing though. Fed up of landys removed a head of a 200 and gearbox out of a td5 disco in work.
vulcan bomber
Could be head gasket..... Especially if your last reading is the rear cylinder.
Mo Murphy
Why not use your 200 head ? Mo
FLASH
Yep number four is the low one it is chuffing in the exhaust and loads of blue smoke no water loss though in fact it has never lost any water in the nine years I have owned it. The one at work removed head to find three cracked pistons.
FLASH
Thinking about future parts supply.
vulcan bomber
200TDi heads aren't that difficult to find... If your bothered stash one in the attic... The 300 ones are much lighter in the casting making them more prone to failure.
