need4speed
Are there different types? The reason I ask is that FINALLY I've got my hands on a genuine V8 air box (thanks Nige).. However as can be seen in the pics below, the grubbins on my assembly makes it very awkward to fit the AFM / hoses between air box and plenum. Hybrid_From_Hell
That rubbery thing is a "Drain" and should be at the bottom Nige
need4speed
Ok but that isn't really my issue..
Bowie69
Are you looking to retain the cruise control?
dangerous doug
The AFM for MS is just a temp sensor. You could make it all out of stainless sections and weld the boss in where ever you want. Edit: I think I can see your problem, are you using a short bellhousing? Because it looks like the one in the bottom pic is using a long one giving more room between the bulkhead and plenum
Bowie69
You could always turn the plenum round...
need4speed
Cruise control? God no lol! Is that what all that carp is? Doug no it's normal bellhousing. Maybe just the pics making it look like that?
Hybrid_From_Hell
Take the cruise control bell puffer thing off ?
Bowie69
Yep, all that cruft around the bellows/actuator is for the cruise control... with that gone it will make life a LOT easier I feel...
need4speed
So I take it the only stuff I need there is just the throttle cable itself? That will certainly help. Thanks guys..
Bowie69
Yep, and as you are manual, there's not even a kickdown cable to get in the way... You might want a couple of return springs as well though
need4speed
Thanks Bowie
Disco-Ron
Part of the issue might be that as far as I'm aware, they didn't fit that type of airbox on an injection v8 in a defender. .... so you have a mismash of bits....
Aragorn
the factory V8's had a pipe that dropped down and back up to avoid that gubbins: http://defender50th.co.uk/GB%20002%20pics/my%20V8.jpg
Bowie69
Yeah, and an air filter intake right above the exhaust manifold(!)
Aragorn
heh, yeh, and that filter intake looks ludicrously small too. Why not just duct it to the wing vent like the TDI models?
Bowie69
Parts bin special -it is an RRC V8 EFI filter housing. ...and ducting costs money, and no left over parts they could borrow that would do the job
