geoffbeaumont
Helping a friend fit new suspension bushes to his J reg 110 - we're puzzled by the rear trailing arms. At the chassis end the kit he's bought (it's a super pro poly kit) has two large washers and an inner steel tube per side. However, the tube and washers are too small to fit beyond the threaded part of the arm, so only the outer washer can be fitted. The arm has a disk at the other end of the bush, and that and the non-threaded section within the bush look to be part of the arm not removable. The bush is a bit loose without the inner tube. Can anyone shed any light?
western
the centre tube & both end washers are part of the bush assembly, one genuine bushes these are all one piece http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=756230&SPRACHE=EN
geoffbeaumont
Like I said, these are super pro bushes not standard. That makes me think there might be a washer and tube solidly rusted onto the arm, though.

geoffbeaumont
That definitely looks like we've got bits of an old bush on there.
western
getthe BFH out to play & give the stuck washer a good wallop, probably just stuck with rust, my new Superpro bushes are waiting to be fitted to my 110, the 2 end washers are seperate as is the inner tube. Bowie69
As above, there's no disc fixed to the arm...
geoffbeaumont
A good deal of heat (yeah, I know - it wouldn't budge any other way) and hammering later, it's off. Now just got to get the nut off on the other side... Cheers
geoffbeaumont
Gave up on the seized nut and left that arm alone for now - Sam needed the truck back on the road and we were running out of time. In any case the rear bushes were nowhere near as bad as the front - some of those had basically disintegrated, leading to some deeply scary handling! The truck is predictably transformed. western
spray the other trailing arm nut with a good shot of Plusgas, it works for me.
geoffbeaumont
It has been - only over the last 24hrs though so maybe a little more time well help. Judging by the state of some of the bearings it's been on there a fair time, though.
