sheathy
Is there an easy way to find the production date of a military vehicle. Trying to find out how old mine is, it's on '95 plates but I'm sure it's much older. Thanks
pete3000
Chassis number and Vin tag on the seatbox.
western
in the VIN the model year is denoted by the first letter before the actual chassis serial number [last 6 digits] so as a example your looking for FA000000 maybe it's been given the current year letter when it was taken out of service, usually DVLA like to give a proper year of manufacture reg plate
sheathy
OK I can't see a VIN ... Does this picture help? Thanks
pete3000
Its the serial No field your'e probably interested in, SALLDHAC etc M= 1995. If this ties in with the Chassis number (similar format) then all is good. http://www.expeditiongear.co.za/cu5/Decoding-your-Land-Rover-VIN-Number.aspx
western
It's the Serial number on that plate you need. so dates as 1995 model year as Pete says above. you have the military reg number there as well, so a enquiry with EMLRA http://emlra.org/ may reveal it's military service record, or they should be able to give you contact info on who/where to request the info. Barney9587
You can do a Freedom of Information Act request to the MOD to get the service record for your truck. The links you need are on the MOD website. They are quite helpful; I got a load of screenshots from their vehicle database when I put one in. Cheers, Ben. Eightpot
It came into service Dec 1994 I think (though there can sometimes be gaps between manufacture and it being bought into service) The attached file is the contract batch your 110 was bought on, it's listed on there if you scroll through. 20140716_OI2014_03671_LandRover_enclosure-2.pdf
