I built a few racing motorbikes many years ago and used to buy my titanium fasteners from the states - much better prices than here.
I even had a few large fasteners made up for suspension components and they still seemed to be working out cheaper than that set of head studs .....
-
I bought a rebuild kit and it lasted the 30k miles until the vehicle went ... fitted it in situ, which was a bit fiddly but ok.

Their site says the 300bhp ones are stroked 2.8's

I don't have much to offer here I'm afraid - but the first thing everyone always seems to say is check the loom ?
When oil reached my ECU is did odd things like that - and they seemed to increase in frequency the more oil there was.
You can rule out the MAF by just disconnecting it - so it falls back to the ECU default setting.

My favorite though is to leave an oily copy of the Haynes manual open on the driver seat on the troubleshooting engine problems page with a few oily spanners on top. They will probably not steal something that is likely to break down mid get-away!

That is now my new favourite security measure !

It says that thing locks the output shaft - how is it doing that ?
Through locking the flange ?
-
Surely that's a typo ?
Even if they were custom made in titanium you can't see them being that price ?!?

My error - I thought it was just about normal ratchets.
I looked on my phone and on that the picture looked to be a normal open end and a ratchet - not an open end ratchet ...
Sorry !!

Thank you all for such a clear and comprehensive answer

I have a set and use them a lot - I got the halfords professional ones on one of their deals.
You're right in that they aren't the tool for brute force to crack a nut - but they definitely aren't a gimmick for me.

Is the D2 diff the standard 24 spline Rover type diff ?
i.e. Could I transplant one to my Defender ?
-
City Link and DPD have been by far the best I've used.

More elaborately we could all form a company - 'Diff Testers Anonymous' , buy a raft of Diffs, test them, claim the VAT back, and go bust.

Do you not get collared for an import tax ?

Do you have a price in mind Mike ?

For the engineering though that represents very good value.
But I'm perhaps in the same boat in that I could afford one - but couldn't afford to pay someone to fit it.

Just looked on ebay for odyssey batteries - not a cheap option then .... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=251582485873

Or a misunderstanding of the 300tdi ?

Onion switches ..

Perhaps the previous owner struggled with decision making ?
-
Here is one I drew and posted a while ago ...
Feedback, as I remember it, was that it was ok .... Though I did get one or two jokes about onions ..

Pictures of Mantec Wheel Carrier ?
in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)

I have a dismantled Mantec wheel carrier - and wondered if anyone had any pictures of one that might show me where it needs washers and which way up the nylon bushes fit etc ?
Very grateful if anyone could help.
