  1. ah Jack! so your back on here! as hes said guys, i put this up a few months ago last time I went with john, it was fantastic, brilliant site, and really well organised
  2. the bob weights? Where/what are those? He didnt suck any water in, he says, so its just the electrics, however am going to see the car later, so we will see. A friend of his also told him he could have bore washed it, however, I cant see how he would have done.
  3. Hi all, A friend of mine has a jan speed range rover classic that he drowned in water the other weekend while off roading. He had all the dizzy apart and cleaned it and it was running fine. It then died again ( 2 hours later) And he managed to just get it home on 3 cylinders Hes got to the point of swapping the dizzy out, its had new cap, leads, arm etc etc, however it just back fires and splutters (he said it fire balled out of the plenum this morning!!) The other odd thing, is that the vacuum pipe for the brake servo was full of petrol... Now, im not a petrolly person, however im 99.9% certain that that petrol shouldnt be there! Anybody able to help me out, as ive got to now go and pick up the pieces Thanks in advance! Grant
  4. Lots of emails coming in so far! Had too many distractions to get it fitted onto a couple of trucks this week, however aiming to get it on at least one next week Cheers Grant
  5. Hi all, Been looking at doing something for a while, as with the number of thefts of defenders going up, as does my blood pressure! Im in the process of designing an anti theft device for land rovers ( i admit, a determined thief will stop at nothing, however every little helps). I don't want to put the details of it on the forum,as I know anyone can read on here, and then it makes it another worthless idea. However, who ever is interested, feel free to contact me, ideally by ringing me, on : 07799 327 969, or by my private email : grant-mundy@hotmail.co.uk After reading about more and more defenders every week, ive decided that I'll just get my A*** in gear and try and get it sorted out and fitted on a couple of defenders ( one auto, one manual) this week. Cheers Grant
  6. As western said, did you remove (or re-round you could say) the flat spot on the td5 locking nut? (Hope im not being stupid now and thinking of something else )
  7. Arent too bad to do, struggled at first, mainly as i was being stupid, however, after 20 mins of faffing I mananged to get it in with a friend in no time using the old string in the seal method. Cant you remove you snorkels pete? as they will almost definately be in the way looking at the pictures of your truck... Good Luck
  8. Am I right thinking that it works out as 2 splines out of phase on the front prop? (or so ive been told...)
  9. Ive got the IRB bolts with the spacers, and have slightly warped a manifold whilst i had them(didnt know as it didnt whistle or screech), and nothing broke, worth there weight in gold for the hassle it saved!
  10. Also, on your truck pete, you will need a chip, not a remap, as your trucks quite early, as you will have a non flash ecu. Heard that the plug in chips arent very good at all, so would probably stay away from them! If you don't want to go down IRB route (im not saying anything about IRB, ive had very very good service from them since dot, however i dont want to be involved in this slating match!!) Then I drove a JE engineering mapped truck yesterday, that went really really well!
  11. Tis a really good lens, good F stops about it and plentifully bright enough. sometimes it hunts to focus in low light, however usually is on the spot! and nice and quick Worth the extra money tbh, however i got mine at the right time overseas when the exchange rate was right
  12. Thanks Got a pentax K10D with a tamron 18-250 lens, (and a flashgun sometimes )
  13. Hi all, Got a friend whos got a p38, and hes looking remove the airbags for a 2 inch lift kit and extended shocks. However, I cant find anywhere which shows the 2 inch kits for sale, I can find 1 inch, however really looking for 2. Apart from a spacer plate under the spring seat, does anyone know where I can get a 2 inch lift kit (and air bag removal kit) for a p38?? Thanks Grant
  14. hi all, got my hands on a 200tdi that has been tweaked too much! However, i dont know how to get it back to original to set it up. Anybody in the know on how to find the original fuel pump position?? Thanks Grant
  15. EGR: Havent got one, went a long time ago! White smoke: i s'pose was me being stupid with the weather and all, the miss however is still an annoyance, but it still feels a little gutless!! MAF sensor: Had a new one about a year ago, plugged it in the other day, and it worked ok. However..... We noticed the other day when it was plugged in, that it is stuck in low range mode constantly, would that make a difference to the power? I know that it does to throttle response, and that is pants at the moment!!
  16. yes, tis very true its that type of smoke thinking about it.... However, doesnt explain the misfire and the black ploom when it misfires ( forgot to mention that! ) as soon as its been revved its absolutely fine!
  17. :hysterical: Sadly no, i keep putting off what i think it is, just went out there to move it, and lacked power and was a pain to start Thinking it might be the fuel pump in the tank, as its had a new fuel regulator and cleaned up all the injectore recently. however i will put it onto a pressure gauge tomorrow and see whats what
  18. well.... It had a genuine new one a few months ago. Also had it plugged in down the workshop. got no fault codes relating, no random values relating to the MAF sensor, it all read within sensible values. Any more ideas?
  19. Hi all. my td5 recently has been lacking a fair bit of power, throttle response is a bit poor, and smokes a little on hard power(white in colour), just feels very short on power and really starting to notice it with towing! Not using any oil, and not using any coolant. Also a bit of a bugger to start recently aswell, first thing in the morning is a pain, it gets better however through the day. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks Grant
  20. Take the filter off of its housing and turn the key, if a little/no fuel comes out from the filter housing then it will mean that the pump is probably knackered! Could try giving it a little spray of easy start? See if that will get the engine running enough to get the diesel through to the injectors??
  21. Might know of someone who may have some bits, will ask about tomorrow and see if they have anything
