  1. Well I think its as Western said in another post its the Yuasa silver HSB019 from Halfords £120 5 year grantee 100 AH and 900 CCA so should start her ok and those Yuasa batteries get a good write up
  2. So does any one know what a 110 200tdi battery spec should be as in AH and CCA ????
  3. Ok guys took a wire direct from the starter trigger connection touched it on the + of the battery and real slow turn over then click click click even tho the battery is showing as full on the charger..... BUT .......Mate turned up in a diesel with a 54 AH and 500 CCA stuck that on used the wire again and instant start .....put the trigger wire back on and instant start........ left it an hour and instant start ........so dare I say it looks like a Naff battery
  4. Getting real odd behaviour some times Im turning the key and getting nothing at all as in starting not even a click turn it 20-30 times and all of a sudden she will try to turn over but not start ......is it normal for the back of the ignition barrel to get hot when keep trying to start it ? I all so did the remover the + terminal then put a LED in between the battery + terminal and the plus clamp so presume this means I've nothing draining my battery
  5. Mine used to chew belts up real regular (Gates) I changes to Gates heavy duty version and not had a problem since Gates heavy duty Fan 6221MC and the HD Pass belt is 6564EXL
  6. Oh I do hope so that would be a blessing if it was just that In the morning I can turn the key and just nothing not even a click keep turning the key and it may just click Even tho a new battery is best part £100-£120 Id be chuffed to bits if it was just that
  7. PLEASE PLEASE help guys this one driving me mad....Talk about problems in 3's Ok started yesterday and im pulling my hair out I go to start her in the morning and nothing when I turn the key Keep turning the key and get click click click Charge the battery over night make sure its reading is good 13.2 slowly drops to 12.8 when not on charge And click click click Put the battery charger to start position even after charging it up and click click ....If I put the charger on to start position and and attach the booster box and she starts fine ........... Once she has run for a while turn her off. Re start her no booster, no charger and she will start fine Leave her for a while and she tries to start but cant quite get there turning over but just not there add the battery charger on start NO booster box and fires instantly and will loads times in a row. The longer you leave it the worse it seams to be at starting EVEN if I charge the battery then disconnect it reconnecting it a few hours later with the charger saying its a fully charged battery ......click click click Dam MOT in just over a week and a trip planned in her Any one any ideas on this ??? as driving me mad Terminals all cleaned battery and contacts.....earth strap cleaned and recent new earth from starter
  8. Hi Guys right after me lights episode I've decided to sort all me lights out Any one know of a universal rotor type dash dimmer switch I can use to just dull down the Carling switches and the Rocket switches. As you can see there bright and at night they blast my eyes (The gauges dull down with lights on)
  9. Ok had a look today and my main front spots have NOT got a relay there wired in to the passenger head light so suspect that could be my problem my problem plus had 100w bulbs in the head lights so changed them for 55w's today (spots come on with main beam.) Ok long time since I done my roof lights so ........... RELAY 86 Ok this is the one unsure about what wire on the head light (passanger side) high beam wire do I connect this to ? 30 + from the relay to the battery NOW does this have to be fused if using a fused relay ??? 87 the + from the spots 85 - To Earth ...Can I use the head light earth or better to do separate ??? to the earth,s on the wing by the head light ?
  10. Head lights or spotlights is for the roof lights as I fitted them but if honest never looked for the front spot lights as were on here when I got it
  11. UPDATE GUYS New Lucus dip/horn/indicator switch fitted and all is ok .........Last one was a Lucus end of may 2013 so didn't exactly last but longer then the Britart one before that what lasted 4 weeks
  12. Yes think deff dip switch just took it off and wiggle the main black feed wire in to it and light on then off then on etc so fingers crossed thats it Thanks guys far far easier then my last two problems (thats the 4th one in 10 years think I need to take those rally bulbs out lol ) By the way any one who can remember the not starting problem was a DIRTY trigger wire followed by TWO brand new faulty starting motors in a row which is why is was hard to find
  13. More update think we got it guys I pulled the Blue and Red wire of the back of the DIP switch sent power down it with the probe and I have I think dipped lights .......some one please tell me thats the dip wire off that switch and make my day ?????? I'm blade fuse Ralf
  14. Hi Ralf I'm a what was a old 1990 TD but now has what I believe is a 200tdi in it and 200TDI fuse box Ok engine running Fuses top row 7.5 first 4 from drivers side back of the fuse box wires lights switch on but dip switch on dip put the probe on the back of all 4 and probe light is green on every terminal (no power both sides of the fuse) Put the dip switch to full beam and the first two fuses the probe lights red both sides of fuse (showing power) but 3rd and 4th fuse probe is still green both sides of fuse Pull the dip switch towards me and all 4 fuses probe is red on all fuses (both sides in and out of fuse) don't know if this helps at all Ok more up date if I take a wire direct from the blue out on the main switch down to the back of the fuse box dip fuse I get a headlight on with the main switch ON turn that switch off and and same with the wire and no head light .........all so probe on that blue wire switch on is red switch off is green ............................could it still be the dip switch ? before I pull the whole dash apart to run a new wire . If so where does the main blue wire split to go to the two dip fuses ? my wires are as so... Fuse 1 a main beam Top, blue with white line.......Bottom blue thin white line Fuse 2 Main beam Top blue thin orange line.....Bottom blue thin white line Fuse 3 Dip Top blue thin salmon/pink line......Bottom blue thin red line Fuse 4 Dip Top blue thin black line......Bottom blue thin red line So if I do have to run a new wire down on the dip what are my power in wires ??? Do I just run a blue wire down just after the joiner at the top and split that wire before entry to both dip fuses ? Thanks guys
  15. Are we on about the Main light switch here or the dip/indicator switch to replace ???? (rotary column switch the indicator, horn, dip one that slides over the steering column ?) My plastic H4 connectors to the bulbs are a bit melted and deteriorated so ordered some replacement ceramic ones. Thanks guys
  16. Hi guys Yes she has been good for a while but TROUBLE again Headlights I have full beam lights but no dipped lights ??? If I take a live wire from the battery and put it in either of the dip fuse slots the dipped light illuminates ....so I'm guess a switch or wiring from the switch to the fuse box. On the main switch what are the wires ???? Any test to take a wire from there direct to the fuse slot ??? To test if its wiring Any one had this problem or the switches go and if so would it be more likely the main switch or dip switch that's gone ? Thanks guys
  17. Yes one down but still one to go she now started all of a sudden leaking oil from the filter and bell housing drain hole very very slight but is there yet oil pressure gauge reads normal and do the move the filler cap and hose from the cyclone and all seams fine .......another mystery
  18. Solved was TWO brand new faulty starters in a row and original problem was a doggy trigger wire
  19. SOLVED was TWO brand new faulty starters in a ROW and the original problem was a doggy trigger wire.....
  20. I only wanted some bulb numbers lol and its gone mad lol .......
  21. I have Emailed Practical Clasics and asked there take on it all
  22. Oh yes total agree on that but Paddocks and WIPAC selling illegal....as it says on paddocks page Series 2 and 3, Defender .......I don't know can trust anyone these days lol .....Its one of those complicated ones again .....could be the classic car mag write up has is slightly wrong or not the complete info on it as mmgemini says above ...... "A bulb is the glass part of a lamp ! You may change a light unit to LED but nothing else" would be great to find out just what is correct ........But great info Peter
  23. That don't make any sense that paper write up it says the post 1974 cars MUST be fitted with filament bulbs unless LED ones came as standard ...No mention of it being ok if the approval mark is on them ......that would mean the wipac LED light kits etc on paddocks etc are illegal ???? if fitted to a car that had filament bulbs as standard even tho they have the approval mark ????? ...........
