I just read guys that only the headlights have to be E marked side lights are ok ...seams to be all sorts written on this even found a write up by a VOSA inspector saying as long as same colour wattage as old ones OK ........MOT guy saying there ok and don't matter about the E mark and that there not allowed to dismantle any part of the car to check so have to pass them.

Hi there every one I'm wanting to change my bulbs to LED ones just undone my light units and of course I cant read the numbers can any one tell me please the bulb numbers for a 1990 110....standard dome light units Front side lights stop/tail lights Indicators fog light reverse light number plate thanks guys

Funny you should say that that's EXACTLY what my second one was a Land Rover Bosch one (Re manafactured)

Ok the Auto electrician was out Sunday and he is adamant its a second faulty starter ....he is now building one to put on so we know it works......We will see what happens

It still spins if you pull the trigger wire off the small spade yes all connected correctly....no odd wires

Ok 200TDI fitted to what was a a TD Immobilizer is a cobra one The starter motors one was a Bermach one fro LR parts on Ebay second from Fakemham Auto Electrical and was a Gen landrover bosh one (land rover badged stamped in it) If you pull the trigger/starter wire of the starter it still spins ..so surely that rules out the ignition or relay getting stuck or sticky

yes we done that and then used a MAINS powered booster as well and its still doing it occasional ( 3-4 times will start ok then do it)

The two starters are different makes from different places

OK the latest on my starter motor 1, old starter works fine but every now and then would fail, cleaned all earth up etc and would still do it so time for a new one 2, Get a new one fix it in turns the engine over but even tho disengages still spins ..., Turn the engine off and still without being engaged its spining, pull the trigger wire off still spins, remove battery terminal and stops........OK send it back get a new one 3, fit original one back on and ok 4, Get second starter motor and does exactly what the one above did......Auto Electrician is called to the garage where he said "was that the volts and amps and that if its low amps its allowing the starter to arc across and keep spinning "..... 5, Try it with a booster box on the landy and seems to start ok 6, Fully charge the battery as only had 11 Amps try it again today and the same problem even with a mains wired booster on the landy..........3 -4 times it will start fine and starter proper disengage then it will have the problem again and again the only way to stop it spinning is take the minus terminal off. 7, Phoned my mate doing it and NOT a happy guy at all.....Phoned Fakenham Auto Electrical spoke to there top guy who said " If its actually still turning over when the engines then turned off its a feed down the wire ......the fact the cog is just spinning but not engaging its a faulty solenoid" ???? really on two brand new starters ?????? ........He also said trying to start it with a low powered battery can cause it to arc across and cause the solenoid to get stuck........???? Does this mean every time my battery drops a bit Ill bugger a starter LOL surely not. And remember its not doing it every time..... 8, Phoned the Mrs brother who head mechanic at a ford dealership and he suspected faulty starter as well If it was my battery why would it still do it with a mains booster connected .....any one ever had two new faulty starters in a row .....and please please please any ideas on this as want to dam well cry at mo out of frustration

My mates garage to repair the dam thing lol..................................Nope been 1200mile plus driving while there to Scotland for 3 week holiday and then back home and it made it ......Had it 12 years and broke down on me so I can't drive it twice. (1990 110 with a defender 200tdi) Of course lots of things have gone wrong heater blower, lights dip stalk, hazards, oil leaks but she keept going.

I've been looking a 120Ah and 1000A or 1100A CCA ...4 year warranty £109.99 for the 1000A CCA one

Ok if any one has seen the posting about my starter problems its been narrowed down but still have problems (see below) The starer problem Ok its gone to my mates and had an auto electrician out and ......with the new starter motor fitted on the landy with the battery (which is just holding 11 amps by the way) and a booster box on it the landy starts fine and the starter disengages ........But with just my fitted battery in the landy try to start it and it starts but the starter keeps spinning ...The auto electricians explanation was that the volts and amps and that if its low amps its allowing the starter to arc across and keep spinning ......Does this sound right ???? As surely every time my battery drops a bit low Im going to have this problem with the starter and that cant be right ....surely its more like a faulty battery rather than it being a low amp battery ??? Any way what's the best battery for my Landy loads and loads of power draw ...lights every where and mega powerful stereo system I believe 663 is standard 105AH and CCA 750A .....Can I go up from this ?

I'm now suffering broken Land rover depression ......My whole world has ended LOL ...so the Mrs is taking me out for a slap up meal and a few drinks to cheer me up..........(either that or stop me wining on and on about it lol) That translates to loads grub and get HAMMERED in my book

Exciter presume you mean the trigger, ignition wire all seams ok but why is the old starter working ok and BOTH the brand new ones doing the above ???

Ok all connected up and turn the key and the land rover starts turn the key off and the solenoid still spins the only way to stop it spinning is to disconnect the earth battery terminal ...then put the earth back on and the land rover tries to start the cog clicks in place even with or with out the trigger wire connected or turning the key

Ive got the new starter now so when that's on if all ok then problem solved BUT if not will need to investigate and try some of the above thanks guys

The old starter was put back on temporary and it all works fine so I can only assume it was the new Bearmach starter (£88.95) that was faulty.......(That's being picked up tomorrow for a refund) I went to Fakenham Auto electrical for another replacement one and they had sold there last WAI one between me phoning and me getting there ARRRRRRRRRR So for the same as the WAI one £95 They supplied me with a remanufactured Bosch one with the Landy badge stamped into it so presume its a remanufactured genuine one..... (ERR5009) Not sure if thats a good or bad price for one of those So will see what happens tomorrow when its on.......

Ok thanks will do but hadn't been behind there at all to disturb stuff .......It was not doing it with the old starter turned it off and fitted the new starter and then wont disengage ..... Buy hay its a Land Rover so will check just in case lol .....Thanks very much ......any other ideas please do post guys and pulling my hair out

Hi Guys I seam to have problem after problem over the last few months starting with the now cured clutch problem OK my 1990 110 fitted with 200tdi ......After leaving my landy for a while I went to turn the key and NOTHING at first I thought it was the alarm system so re wired all that back in. Made no difference The next day went out and rapid turn the key in frustration and after about 40 turns it fired in to life next day same thing turn the key and nothing ...rapid turn the key over and over many times and then starts but sluggish... The more I have driven it the better this problem has got with it only doing it every now and then but still sluggish to start on the first start of the day and if it has done it a few turns of the key will start it rather than 30-40 turns....OK TIME TO SORT IT I cleaned all my earth straps and battery terminals and then turn the key and BANG fires in to life instant no sluggish start at all....yes mended he thinks....he thinks wrong I drive it for a whole day must have started it 40 plus times and all is ok good starting ...next few days all ok and instant start on the days first turn over.... then all of a sudden in the middle of the day after driving it turn the key and nothing again turn it off and back on and it starts .......10 mins later turn the key and nothing hold the key on and suddenly wer wer wer very very slow and then fires up . Its been fine for a whole week after that but went for a new starter anyway .......New starter fitted and connect the earth lead and fire it up and the starter keeps spinning wont disengage ????? New starter is faulty ??? and any ideas PLEASE New top RAC battery last year 2 years ago new ignition barrel Thanks guys

Just had EXACTLY the same thing on mine ...cleaned the earths and did improve it but not stop it completly......So added a new earth from the botom starter bolt to chasiss and direct from the batter to the chasiss as well as batery to gearbox.......But not taken the chance so new starter went on this moring ......Will see what happens

Any one know any CLEAR side repetors that will fit a 1990 110 Thanks guys

Oh how I remember that one as well had the same problem .....Took me 2 pumps before I got the corect one ......NTC8287 I belive 2.5 petrol and NA diesel also 2.5Turbo diesel & 200Tdi......I had to take mine off and compare it against pics of ones on the internet
