was the caliper corroded , or dit the new seals failed ?
-
where did you get the feed from ? direct from the battery , and how about the earth ?
-
my gues would be M6 (Metric 6 milimeter)
-
can someone explain to me what these "isolators" do for your springs ?
-
to keep all the repair seals in the same topic , the rear solid calipers seem to use RTC1137.

I did by 4 of 17H8764L seals, but not required for my front vented calipers but might be useful if I have to split a rear caliper.
i don't think they will fit the rear caliper , as far as i remember they are a different size to the front calipers !
-
i found the solution , after reading some more in the parts manual , the rear nut has 2 different numbers (217477 for normal , and 521633 for 1 ton) , so i can try witch one fit's .
riddle solved ... on to the next one 🙂
-
are these different to the non vented one's ?
-
that's great news !! thanks for the effort guy's !!
then it's time for the next one , a shaft from a gearbox , number is somewhere in the 500000-600000 range .
if it is a shaft from a LT76 , it could be 576726 (it has writen "26" on the shaft with a felt pen) , that would make it a 1 ton shaft , does anybody know the difference between 576725 (normal) and 576726 (1 ton) ??
-
thank you very much , i'll see if i can find a old range rover manual to verifi the number ...
-
-
could it be a chasis harness , with the connector for the rear wiper motor (don't know if this is the same as the front motor) , i can't find a parts diagram for a rear mounted wash/wipe system on a serie's 3 (i looked in the normal parts manual , and in the optional manual)
maybee someone can identifie the wire colors from the picture's .
-
so at least it is a dash harness , i will lay it out on the floor , and see if i can make out LHD or RHD , is it normal for a serie's harness to have two purple wires without a bulletconnector ?
-
here we are again , this time it's wire's ...
i have a number of wiring harness (88 petrol/diesel 109 diesel) and a mystery one , the numbers known are 589708 / 589705 / 589710 .
the mystery one has number 589693 , there's also a lable from the manufacterer with a drawing number 51240733 and a date off 1975 , the cable looks like a chassis harness with some extensions at the rear .
the serie's 3 manual doesn't list it , and a internet search doesn't show this number ...
there's also a (to me) strange grey connector , maybee someone recognises this
if need be , i can spread it out on the floor so you have a better look at the length .
-
it is a selflocking nut , i can put it on till the plastic locking ring , and there is still a bit off play in it , don't know how far the threads project thru the nut when installed , it may get beter once the nut is on the correct spot
-
the threads measure 25 mm for 10 turns , so it must be M20 ...
but if the 3/4" UNC is 19 mm , then it would be possible to retread it to 3/4 .... that would give me a tight fit without the need to look for replacement radius arms .
Are 3/4" dies affordable , or are they just as expensive as buying new radius arms , sandblast en paint en refit the bushes ?
-
next question , does anybody know how to tell apart the 6 cylinder cam follower's ?
there are 4 different cam followers (531874/531873 and 536873/ 536872) , some bright eyed person threw them all in the same bin .... so far i can see i have 3 different type's , but maybee there's 2 that only slightly differ from eachother .
so does anybody know how to identify these ?
is it possible to sort them by "castingnumber" or does that have no meaning at all .
at the moment the parts are covered in some preserving goo .... so very hard to see diffenences
-
i now see the picture bigger as on my phone , the thread looks indeed tapered .. i'll try again with a decent nut (the one i ordered were Br*tpart , so who knows ....)
-
hello all ,
i got my radius arms back from sandblasting and painting , so fitted the remaining parts , to keep everything together.
i ordered new nuts (M20 NY120041) these fit the threads but are very sloppy fit , i guess some 1-1,5 mm "play" on the threads .....this can't be right .
is it possible they fitted imperial radius arms to this 110 (1985) ?
i'm not good at measuring imperial but it looks like 3/4" inch ... so wat nut to order ??

found this : the series 1 and 2 use a lucas clip on the distributor (LU 425765) or landrover number 245013 .
some searching reviels this : http://www.distributordoctor.com/distributor-cap-clips.html
and the 43D and 45D clips look like these .... no i only need to find if the serie's 1 and 2 used the 43/45D caps ...
you guys are great !!

mine is a 3 door hardtop , and as far as i can see , the setup is original
-
my solution is free !
and the nice thing about this , the car does it by itself ..... if i undo the belt , and retract it "the normal way" , the next time i undo my belt , it is in this position again 🙂
maybee because the previous owner put the seat about 1" backwards .
mmm i see i need to clean the interior .....

did you fit the correct release bearing ? it looks like it has to travel to far before it touches the clutch
