  1. Not successfully no , but im getting the idea you want to mount the crane to the hub for the slewing effect ??? Make a steel plate that fits over the hub and bolts to it using the wheel nuts , Then weld your attachment to the plate .
  2. The simple option , Makes a comfortable shift position .
  3. Why not fit an adjustable bleed valve instead .
  4. Why not fit an adjustable bleed valve instead .
  5. Nick , Body fittings here , http://www.stedall.co.uk/acatalog/Ironwork.html
  6. The set up you talk of is one I have seen on Paul Whightmans truck , IIRC it had a brake discand calliper from a moped and was coupled to the end of the drum on the winch ,and being auto his redundant clutch pedal was used to activate it . Buy as it has already been said the uprated gigglepin /gwyn lewis brakes are a much easier task and work well , even with a liberal coating of grease . Paul, appoligies for spelling your surname wrongly .
  7. Ummm!! You didnt get stuck on the access track though did you . And a tow was not needed as Mr Trembath was there to offer some of his driving tuition skills ,
  8. Firstly I would like to thank James for putting on one of the best events ever ,The stages were truly inspirational and well thought out and offered a varying array of terrains and obstacles ,(Not that I did many ) But the ones we did were amazing , Equal thanks goes out to the many marshals who were all spot on ,and of course the sponsers ,Anton ,Liz and the crew at OEC who were as ever great with their warming hospitality and support. It was also good to meet up with freinds old and new again ,And even the weather was ok , Congrats to CSW on their well deserved win , They did realy work hard keeping at it . I realy think this event should be not left too long before the next , the last one was 2006 , Lets hope the next one is 2010 and with the reputation of this years event im sure all 6 teams will be entering.
  9. Never mind that , he cant even focus , Very large objects suddenly become smaller
  10. Thanks for clarifying that Steve , I knew all along that they did not fall into that catagory , but I had a bit of an argument with one of our drivers when I stuck an FTA speed info sticker relating to Non-CDV in his hard top 90 . His argument was a CSW is classed as a car and the hardtop is a derivement of it . Then when the weight issue was raised he still persisted he could do 70 mph on a Dual carriage way . But thats why they are drivers I guess
  11. Cheers Steve , Yes that was the answer I was looking for , I wonder how many defender drivers actualy know the legal speed limits their vehicles are allowed to travel .
  12. Can anyone confirm if the Defender 90 Hard top is classed as a car derived van or not ?? No speculations please just definate answers ?
  13. Gawd, Terrible thoughts have now entered my mind of what Steve is capable of where drink and tents are involved .
  14. There you go shreck , Your over enthusiastic Hope you get it sorted by the weekend mate , Then we can all get enthusiastic
  15. Try this stuff Tony , if she co drives for you then thats a result
  16. 3k for a p reg disco , seems quite alot of money , Have you had a good shop around , I bought an M reg 91k auto tdi for only £400, Admitidly it had a small dent in the front wing and needed a headlamp but the rest of the car was mint , It seemed a shame to break it for spares
  17. I ran my Defender spec 200 tdi with the tin tank and had no problems
  18. Jake , I hear Gull wing doors are pretty cool , Im coming along with the Bomag this year
  19. Couldnt of put it better myself , But then Bish is a clever sod .
  20. Steve its not a bad job to do but a tad messy , But you have to be surgicaly clean when doing it , I did mine a few months ago , From memory , Sump off , pick up pipe off , filter off , Valve block off (only removing 13 m6 bolts and NO others) Be prepared for a few armfulls of more fluid when removing the valve body . Changing the cable is then straight forward fitting it on the cam disc . My advice would be to download a Rave manual before you start the job , I got a genuine cable from TOR 4x4 , Its a job you dont want to be doing twice in a while so a OE cable would be in favour over a Britpart one
  21. I was one of those people , I hate driving auto cars /HGV`s on the road , But I wouldnt change the auto option in my 90
  22. Stick with auto mate , Its something I have recently done and wished that I had done it years ago . Speak with Dave he will remidy it for you . Will , You sure its still going strong
  23. Mine go in the washing machine , It has a drum shaped like a thrupenny bit ,but it does the job well , No soap or detergents whatsoever , but my co driver has requested the use of some fabric conditioner , The summer meadow one I think .
