  1. All of the body work was reused, the bonnet cut down by 4" and rewelded, the shell was reused, the chassis, the axles, brakes, doors, glass, tailgate, rear view mirror (the only think that wasnt butchered in the frenzy), the roof lining was reused.......... erm the rest was mostly made from scratch, Build log will be built over the weekend, web address to be confirmed.. If you like this one just wait a few months - theres three more cars on the way and they will be much much much groovier if only I could make a living doing it
  2. Im not sure about being able to provide inspiration but I'll knock a website together over the weekend if I can find a copy of frontpage this is how it started anyway Pooh brown LHD rotten as hell 3.5 V8, went to Saudi and then ended up in France and then I bought it from Auntie Wainwright aka RRDoctor, it was a mess, the rear bumper came off in my hand an the rear end of the chassis had collapsed
  3. it aint called pig for nothin I havent got round to doing a site for it, I didnt think it would be of interest, Ive got hundreds of pics of it through the build so if you want some I can mail them over?
  4. Good work Andy, keep it cracking on fella - we gotta get a WBBSC family outing/shakedown sorted for January at this rate!
  5. it had outriggers and a 40hp outboard but they way we built it meant that the bikes engine was underwater when it was in "boat" mode - it meant you could still ride it round the shore and then ride straight into the lake and re-stage a baywatch style rescue (complete with slow motion running) mmmm slow motion..................... I better go now
  6. ahh thats only his fiddle brake, he's still got the gearlever, transferbox lever, pto lever, front/rear winch select lever, handbrake lever to fish around for He says the bubble in the roof his bus has enough air for a good few minutes so a mask, flippers and snorkel would just be showing off but a periscope.... hmm I'll see what he says B) screened caps should offer good protection from water with a little judicious silcone enhancement - or you can fit them up with HT leads and then pot them in potting compound, if you are looking for coil on cap then have a nose at the newer Suzuki GSXRs (they all had them), big dollop of silicone and wire them into a bank will see the job done. We used the same setup on a floating motorbike to ride accross a lake for a competition and that was happy as larry underwater
  7. Hi Steve, I used a whole 3.1 manifold and turbo as I had one kicking around, I'll check the differences at the weekend for you though, two types of adapter available, the old type is a 10mm plate (good for bullnosing but a pain to fit) or the newer 25mm alli adapter ring Clutch is landy, Isuzu sump clears the axle nicely, the conversion suits RHD really well as the throtle cable fits, with RHD you need a universal throttle cable and make a bracket to reposition it at the pump end, the isuzu fuel filter is a goodun and easy to site, I'll try and dig out pics of the original "Dolly" she was pretty standardish with a 'suzu lunp SAAB intercoolers and Rads work best!!!! Cheers Jez
  8. diesels not waterproof? I'll have to tell Jerzy that he always seems to be driving through one lake or another thanks to Zebra Offroad Club Poland for a topscore playday To quote the bloke from Davies Unified Ignition - its water resistant sir, not waterproof
  9. Ive done a few now, easy to fit, bombproof, good on fuel and work well with a intercooler, on a 5 speed LT77 or R380 they work well, not so good on an auto unless its running an early 4 speed box as the shift patterns suit it. you can use a 3.1 turbo and injectors for more wallop but a slight pump tweek works well on a standard 2.8. the cambelt takes 5 mins to swap Heres one I knocked up earlier
  10. I did about this much Can still keep the standard fuel tank and get a spare 36x12.5 Simex in the boot
  11. Did someone say swimming? No cars we hurt during the production of this program they all drove out........ welcome to bolota and have a nice day
  12. we've got press tools for the bushes Andy but may have to knock a new set up for a number 6, when you get it home let me know and we can knock up another set Cheers
  13. doesnt seem to bother them at all, grrrrrr DIE DIE DIE
  14. Andy, solder up the bus, plop it in a tub with the tails hanging out, check it with a meter and the pot the whole thing in dilectric potting compound. Waterproof, vibration impervious and neat Forget fuses mate, buy breakers. WBBSC
  15. 4 years of non-smoking, sat in a Russian swamp, ran out of 100% deet, 400 fags in the back of the car to keep the traffic cops happy, mossie net on head, sleeping bag over the the top of that and Im still getting bitten and going mental from the noise of sitting in what sounded like a bee hive..... back on the fags I hate mossies big ones little crappy ones loud ones quiet sneeky ones KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL!........................................ I need my pills now nurse
  16. Nah, the ARB seals wont take the pressure
  17. Ahh Ashcrofts' bought it back out, Didnt see that Andy - cheers - £1500 + vat hurts a bit though, I'll price it up and see what I can do anyway. Im still not convinced about using planetary gears with torque multiplication in a package like that but its a neat solution, I was thinking more along the lines of a splitter box infront of the main gearbox which would leave the pto open for winch use... hmm
  18. I'm trying to assess the financial feasability of making a batch of underdrives for Landies I would leave your normal gearing but when operated would give between 17 and 30% reduction to all gear selections, effectively turning an LT77 or R380 into a 20 speed :-) anyone interested? and whats a fair price? its looking like being around a grand and a bit Cheers Jez
  19. Please mum can I change mine to Sod the bolt on's - Vive La WBBSC! I promise I'll feed the cats and take the rubbish out and do the washing up and stuff Thanks Jez
  20. Al Im looking for a partner in crime to rent a unit with as I need space to build - I have found units just outside of Basingstoke, pm me if you are interested Cheers Jez
  21. there are loads of maps on the Ozi explorer websites - worth trawling through, Im afraid I cant help you out with that area of the world though Ozi lets you stictch maps, on a vaguely related tip try looking at Google Earth, maps can be downloaded from there
  22. I quite like the cheapo laptop with Oziexplorer and a bucket load of MP3's chucked on running through a stereo with an auxiliary imput. loads of storage for uploading photos/specialist interest er-hemm materials and maps - so cheap second hand it doesn't matter if they periodically die
  23. ahh it brings a tear to my eyes but hey ho, here's Pig bless simex for thier wheel a phobic tyres Can't show pictures of new toy yet but its showing signs of being a bit on the massive side when it grows up hmm "mouse" or "Lishi", new toys' name is yet to be confirmed Cheers Jez
