  1. we made a drilling jig, welded the original holes up and redrilled on a good few axles - nice and simple and it works a treat
  2. I think Daan in my jaded and cynical view of UK politics the question should be asked "who's likely to line the politicians pockets the most?" large scale motor manufacturers of the makers of the Scrudgely superior motorised parambulator followed by "which headline will most impress the unwashed masses and therefore get me re-elected - all we need is some poorly thought out knee jerk legislation" common sense and politics are strangers, political "bungs" carry much more weight the PFI initiative, gun legislation, hunting ban, offroad training for bikes but not cars etc etc etc
  3. Yep we come - Finland trophy at least, it would be nice to do Lapland trophy and if possible something round the "lost in frost" time depending on money I think it would just be easier if I get a job and somewhere to live in Finland and save a lot of travelling! Theres some events in Estonia to take care of (some fast new cars are being built) as well as the usual Russian stuff and going back to Veppskii, are you coming out to play?
  4. not so difficult baxxter - we can do a forum relay as long as we can drop them in Jarvenpaa or Helsinki
  5. I'd be seriously interested in the V6 development Ian - can you keep us updated please
  6. in reality its small and you can poke your head into wierd places
  7. me? I quite liked the look of the grill, if that offends I'll cry....... albeit on the inside - seriously, Im not sure if I'll get any sleep at all back on topic - 2.25 petrol, slow revving like a diesel with low power output to gain traction and lots of weight to help tyre bites through the mud, cheap and easily capable of producing at least 195-200 billion horsefootcandellabushels with only minor mods - its the future I tell ya!
  8. on average diesels get more to the gallon ergo more people buy diesels. Government feel left out as they are loosing out on yummy tax, government come up with BS polution carp to justify re-raping our wallets based on particulate that is removed from the atmosphere by rainfall The moral majority are dumb enough to belive it hence we are the only country in Europe with such a disparity, in fact......from memory the only country where diesel is more expensive than petrol.. yay. Im jaded and cynical
  9. check the bracket on the axle - if the hole goes even marginally egg shaped you get exactly the symptoms you've described. If thats the case then the easy fix is a 3mm washer welded to the axle to "re-round" the hole hope that helps
  10. would be cool if the Casio was available over here, thats a tough bit of kit Chuck Norris's phone
  11. "Land Rover and Sonim share a brand spirit: products fit for purpose. The Land Rover phones will be submersible, Bluetooth-compliant and certified to withstand salt, fog, humidity, transport and thermal shock and a 1.6-metre drop to concrete from any angle." - Taken from the article on the next page I wonder how it compares to the Casio G Zone phone? I would genuinely like a phone that takes a kicking
  12. fortunately its a Sonim, so its never going to leak like a landy!
  13. no ones squeeky clean, Devon cost Pali a heap of wasted time and money, he paid for service - just didnt get it.
  14. Sorry Dave but the Baltic kids dont give a monkeys about MSA or FIA regs , there are 3 teams that I know of that DONT have CTIS currently fitted, us being one of them
  15. most protos and Tr3 do as well, ours is still in a collection of boxes in the lab, 3 preset buttons - no slowing down
  16. it seems a good idea for us - TBH we have never encountered a problem doing it that way, a steel cap with a core tool is capable of sealing the valve stem even if the core is missing - when you air down put the cores in your mouth, that way when you refit them they are always nice and clean and you wont loose them really must get the CTIS fitted for next year
  17. Before Fridge got his a&se in gear and fitted spats he took his truck for a ticket (tyres hanging out in a BIG way), the inspector freaked out but couldnt find anything in the book, inspector then rang VOSA who told him to issue the MOT as wheel coverings were not an MOT issue. merely a report
  18. ahh theres a million possible reasons for a weld failure Si, rod type, parent metal, weld construction bla bla bla Im barely a child and will never accept any other title thanks Brazing still finds favour in bicycle frames for exactly that reason - magic sticks give a solution to a problem but in my bodging opinion are only going to offer a replacement for a welded joint in circumstances, calling the process the magic sticks employ a "weld" is misleading at best. I was asked about the battery powered migs - not sure if its any use but heres THE LINK for the non-Finnish speakers in the room (Im sure there may be one or two ) Koo-Pee sums it up as "Mig welders have two types amateur/professional. Amateur model is 350e export price and pro model is 700e (no vat) difference is quality, pro model has only top quality KEMPPI parts inside, amateur model is quite similar looking outside but inside is chinese" Finnish VAT is about 17% from memory
  19. Steel Valve cap with core key - £1 for 5
  20. how about looking at ways to optimise the stock setup? analysis of causes of bind, methods of improving articulation and knock on effects to road holding, roll centres changes etc? that'll keep you busy and you may end up with a marketable product at the end of it
  21. Ready welder might help Mark - packs away to fek all, welds ally easily, ideal for storing in a shoe box and bringing out for sporadic glueing, needs 2 or 3 car batteries depending on the application so that would sort the lack of mains Offivaruste have a really neat battery powered mig with a 3 metre torch that hits the same spot (sorry for wandering off topic chaps)
  22. Im not sure I said anything to the contrary Mark everything has a use all toys are just training, hard work and saving, they dont grow on trees - just depends how much you want/need em
