  1. it already does and has done for a fair few years - just not in the UK yet (2012's fashion tip maybe? ) although I wholeheartedly agree you dont need a billion horse - it really is a whole heap of fun to let loose, dumb grin and instant childhood regression
  2. who did you ask Si? I might know a man...
  3. you can loose the tailshaft section from a 2wd 4L60E and use a Novak adaptor to get it onto a Septic case - not pricey, reasonably compact might want to look at the ratings though... I saw a steel TH400 to LT230 adaptor a few months back that apparently was commecially available in the UK..... shame it wasnt parallel in any plane though and had caused transmission devestation in the short time it was on the road I wonder what will be fashionable next year..
  4. Nige, its not rocket science if we manage a setup that allows flex, still takes big hits at high speed and retains the road manners of normal car (Will - they may be a little confusing because they feature a car actually driving) sorry - no super complex link systems, just dull old range rover junk same car, just going "a little" faster mostly boils down to budget and use
  5. "shortfalls in the toilet paper supply were dealt with in the usual manner" "it was his round, but try as they may his wallet stayed firmly put.."
  6. does the torque convertor help in the form of a centrifugal filter?
  7. have some of the factories closed down? Ive got some little houses if you need them John
  8. I'd agree with Ciderman - bearing load will increase with offset but preload adjustment is merely slop erradication
  9. Petal ran a "conventional" landy set up (damper down the inside of the front springs and outside the rear) she handled pretty sweetly, seemed good on slow stuff and had to be worked very hard before the limits were reached, only major difference to you was setting up the suspension to be unbalanced - not fashionable but very functional eye-eye is easy, as suggested before a U channel drilled and reamed to provide a bolt hole and another bolt beamed through the bottom to secure through to the old "pin" hole in the axle, the rear axle lower mounts were scratch built to suit "eye" ends from the outset but previous versions used the same convertor, the front axle upper mounts were "stretched to suit" cheapo tubular towers I found kicking about, with a couple of plates and bosses welded in - piece of cake IMO eyes allow the use of a wider range of potentially stronger and more diallable shocks - providing you use a shock that has spherical joints and mis-alingment spacers at each end then flex isnt an issue.. add hydro/air/whichever flavour you like bump stops and system flexibility is further enhanced I spose the question is what do you want the car to do?
  10. duff dvd Daan? is it one or both?
  11. Im with John on the region free groove, £19 Himage dvd player - chews through pirates of pirates of pirates from places I cant even spell let alone pronounce
  12. ok Nige, I should have qualified that a little no proto race car building (as in full builds)....... maybe some subtle "adjustments" or something less proto.... just if theres a little bit of free time... mind you... I was doing some thinking the other day and started doing a few drawings ... and... I didnt say anything about a tech truck Petal lives in St Petersberg, with a fella called Arunas Yam mes - whats chasing next year?
  13. whos the trip with? worth giving them a shout and asking the "what if?"
  14. Mouse is sat in the lab covered in pooh, might have to get the hose pipe out at some stage no more racing until the bank balance doesnt consist of a number with a lot of zero's and a minus sign roll on next year, no car building
  15. gotta have 4 wheels - its in the event rulebook (seriously), basically any wheeze you can think of to get you over the pooh is banned, double wheels, tracks, etc etc, Frogs are just exploiting a loophole that was intended to keep people racing instead of knocking them out, IMO not in the "spirit of the event" but sadly there are those that value a plastic cup over all else... The tree didnt save 3 or 4 this year Tony, it looks like an obvious mistake from where the camera is but from a drivers point of view you can't see it coming.. 3 years ago I had Urvo and the red niva tapping the bumper when we went through there, Petal had a view malfunction (and I chewed a hole in the seat cover) thankfully saved by nailing the gas and using the tree, its a fair way down to that lake
  16. theres few people I would leave in the nowhere Neil - seriously its not a nice place to be, we earned the dubious title of "Tow Tractor" from the Estonians for dragging out thier dead cars, these days we would finish special stage first and then stomp back in if needed (unless its the gappy toothed Qkulgar horror in which case we can drive just as fast with his junk on a rope as without it )
  17. Yuri seemed pretty clear cut about it James - transit towing is towing, doesnt matter who where or how, I think he understands why the "drivers mafia" is pee'd about it all, Mait Mumme didnt seem to like the situation either and he's one on the international advisors/referees - its going to hurt sooooooo badly if they get a 1 hour ping every day IMO the only permissible tow is if one team hauled another "dead team" out of stage - I wouldnt want to see that penalised as its the only real life line we all have, but as soon as you reach transit let the penalties begin.
  18. well said Discojmz (you forgot to mention kittens exploding as a result of non-genuine parts fitment but its not as common a consquence)
  19. Theres assurances of a 1 hour penalty for each "towing" event in 2009 ... game on
  20. there is a fair bit of truth in that Rhys, Ive run John Staziks wheels for years, they take a massive kicking and come bouncing back for more
  21. All in all Tony £500 went into the team it makes a seriously big difference covering the costs of getting mouse, a trailer and a tow car all the way to Rostock in Germany. Many many thanks to all involved - big thanks to Jim for being the Don of Shirts
  22. you can beat the carp out of an LT Dave - dont stress over it, keep it locked and the pedal in the axminster Staks/Atlas/Danas will give you front/rear dig-ability + lard + lack of permenant 4wd, not sure if any of those are factors in your discipline?
