  1. okay well im not THAT clever am i maybe a dead land rover, or just dont have a big enough door to get everything out, or just sleep there curled around a shotgun mikey
  2. i lent my a bar from my 200tdi disco to a mate and he put it on his 1971 2 door range rover no problems whatsoever. i dont know if its the same with a slightly newer rrc and it might depend on the type of a bar you want to fit. mikey
  3. ive just bought 235/70/r16 insa turbo saharas which are very good for what ive done in them theyre £45.50 + vat from paddocks and the 235/70 is about the biggest youll get under a disco without having to cut the arches and buy lifts etc. ive not had a chance to really test them yet but theyve been up a 45 degree hill in the melting snow (wet and slippy) fine with no tyre spin and if anything the landy stalls befor you loose traction in some cases
  4. it isnt noticeable because i trimmed the lip thar folds in not the actual arch (the pics are a bit unclear) i just cut into them up to the existing bend then bent them all the way back, then cut a triangle piece out of the bottom edge of the rear quarter mikey
  5. ive used my c.b radio on a cigarette lighter plug since i got it and ive never had any problems, i am going to get round to wiring it up properly one day. but its just one of those thing you never do like putting the rest of the chequer plate on my disco (its only on 1 side due to the fact that it needs grinding down because it doesent fit between the plastic strip and the sill which is a manufacture error on the car not the chequre plate the same with my detachable towbar project, rock sliders, and many other small things. mikey
  6. they are disco rims, theyre painted black though any more offset on the wheels and youre into camel cut territory and it can be very hard to do and get a nice finish. the front wheels dont catch anywhere on full articulation, as i said they do rub on the radius arms on full lock a bit but nothing too bad. mikey
  7. sorri missd tht question yes i got them from paddocks in matlock and here are some pics the tyre catches on the arch a bit on full articulation. so i bent them back, it still looks the same from the side. and now it doesent catch. mikey
  8. the 235/70/r16s rub a little bit on full lock but nothing to worry about and ive had to make a small adjustment to the rear arches. it took 5 minutes though. pictures to follow.
  9. i nicked the power from the clock illumination as it comes on with the ignition and it is only the other side of the heater controls, a few minutes fiddling and a small lenght of wire added and it reaches my clock never worked properly anyway, and i cant read the time . pplus id rather be able to use the cigarette lighter socket to play my ipod than tell the time mikey
  10. yeh but foli you didnt think did you i took it off so i dont get stuck like you http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TU0Yo1eB6KY everyone watch and laugh mate that one looks like it hangs down quite a bit and i dont want it to mikey
  11. i got 235/70/r16 for £209 including vat theyre on standard disco rims and yes they are directional, but ive not driven it yet as it has a dead battery, so deat that it wont even charge. ill get it going tomorrow using about 4 tractors and some jumpleads and check for where i need to trim if at all then ill posst up with more info. theyre listed on paddockspares.com and heres a picture mikey
  12. what we do is get a piece of piping about the right size to slip over it and use it as extra leverage, it works a treat (untill you forget where you put the pipe when you eant to take the trailer off:P) mikey
  13. yeh well oli your strange weve never come across one.
  14. ive got my saharas now, i got them from paddocks this morning. im going o fit them tomorrow and test them out. cheers for everyones help mikey
  15. cheers fo your replies, ive decided to go for the sahara pattern instead, as you can get it in 235/70/r16 mikey
  16. i live on the first farm you see to the right when you head to ashbourne. next door to roger lambert. my dad is called David Brown nad the farm is called Hoe Grange Farm where did you build your landy? whos yard, workshop? what does it look like because i may have seen it cheers mikey
  17. i havent ordered them yet but im getting them from paddocks in matlock cant you get them in 235/70/R16 or 235/75/R16?? cheers mikey
  18. if you take the keys and lock it?? it wouldn't work if it had a Lucas key but JCBs never did so it would be fine
  19. im going to get my insa turbo special track tyres i have been promised for christmas ive just been told that the tread might rub badly on the arches in full articulation. is this true and if so can i get round this probllem without a lift?? cheers mikey
  20. i have done some research and the wbsite says that it is legal to tow by a frame if the vehicle is behind, so if it has someone to operate the brakes in the drivers seat (do not have to have a driving liscence) then it is legal. cheers mikey
  21. at most it will go around 5 miles up a country road and very rarely at that, i am told that this is legal and that it is soon going to be illegal to tow by rope, and this is the alternative suggested by the law. you may be able to correct me. mikey
  22. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-RECOVERY-A-FRAME...A1%7C240%3A1318 here is a link to an a bar on ebay^^ it says that it fits to your lower wishbone as you allknow discovery 1s have front beam axles, so will this still fit or do i have to buy a specific one for beam axles?? cheers, mikey
  23. have a police siren sound on a loudspeaker hidden somewhere outside make it so it sets off around 2 mins after they break in. they should s*** themselves and run then inform the police so they can do something about it so if they come agin the real police will come also park a big digger/ tractor in front of the door so as they cant get anything big out. small things may go but the usual suspect irish transit vans wont tow a JCB out the way mikey
  24. most likely to be the cv joint. mine did it. it will stop if you fill it up with thick transmission oil or grease do you know how to fill it up?? mikey
