  2. knowing oli personally I'm not sure his teeing skills would be safe. my engine has a pipe from the top of the engine to a tee junction in the intake I wasn't sure about this so I asked my father who said he thought it could be a vacum intake pipe?? im not sure and would have to inspect the difflock system and make sure that it is a vacum pipe. tell you what oli next time Andy and I come round well help you to have a look but I don't much about your daihatsu engine tongue.gif Mikey
  3. you dont need to lift it in my view it just makes it harder to get over bumps etc which makes you as a driver more skilled the camel trophy ones were never lifted and they got everywhere they tried if you want one have a 2" lift as any more can make the steering go wrong unless you get the relevant radius arms which costs upwards of £200 mikey
  4. tha first thing i wud do is take wheels off and check all the brake pads, calipers, discs mikey
  5. they are not as common as internal ones but theres an advert for them in LRM try www.ppcages.com on the ad it showed a disco II external cage but i am sure that theyll do 1 for disco I either that or loads of companies make custom spec cages ans theyll make an external one for you but it might cost more. mikey
  6. hi. im not sure about the studs due to the unclear picture but these wheels can be picked up relatively cheaply from lots of places my favorite is paddocks in matlock. these style wheels are deemed to be very good wheels. ive not used them but my friend has some on his buggy, and if you buy the right ones you can just use the standard land rover, def/RR/Disco 1/series nuts
  7. white smoke=steam could be headgasket?? if its bluey white you could be burning oil mikey
  8. take the wheel off and check the rim on both sides, even the smallest bend in the rim of a tubeless tyre can let air out mine did that and it went for a week after i did it before going down, then all of a sudden it went flat overnight a BIG hammer can sort this, and you could use permanent tyre gunk just to be safe mikey
  9. there are 2 different offsets for defender steel wheels, i had a 88" steel wheel on my disco for a while as a spare but had to take it off as the offste was too small and the tyre was ripping itself on the radius arm 88" steel wheels are the same as 90 i think so you should check if they are 90 or 110 steels 110 ones are fine because i use this as a spare a lot mikey
  10. mine did that when i had it, i thought that the belt was fine but i tightened it up as much as possible using a BIG crowbar and my heavy self and now it is fine. mikey
  11. cheers for the offers but i havent really got amy money at the moment, are you holding on to it for now, because if so i could save up for it. when i have payed off my debt for my new tyres i will see how much i have left i might have some more in a secret stash and how much would you sell the dixon bate one for?? how does it detach?? i would be grateful if you could take pictures cheers mikey
  12. every now and again my clutch tends to make a knocking noise when the gearbox is out of gear. it only does it occasionally and if you depress the clutch again and take your foot back off it stops knocking i am trluy confuzed any tips or ideas? and should i be worried?? cheers mikey
  13. i got 4 insa turbo special track 235 r16s :) mikey not fitted though
  14. just thread your earth through the grille neatly and wrap it round the nearest screw, as the whole bosy is earthed then it will complete he circuit, but you may have to scratch a bit of the paint off around the screw to get a good connection, i earthed mine through the relat mounting screw i used mikey
  15. theres a metal fuel filter attached to the chassis right next to the rear drivers side wheel, this can go rusty and let in air. it is quite a common roblem and my 200tdi disco haad the same problem when i bought it. you can fix it by bypassing it as theres another filter in the engine bay so it is a bit useless really i have done that and i havent had a problem since mikey
  16. the first kit is complete i think as the disco already has dampers. the only thing being replaced really is the arispring this kit has the relevant mount adaptors and the only other thing i would think you need is the spring polybushes are very good, they arent reely that expensive either, im not sure but i think that the blue ones are the off road ones but it really depends on what youll do with your car the most i hope ive helped you mikey
  17. a swivel seal on a rear wheel???? dont you mean the halfshaft gasket?? theyre around 50p as i have just replaced mine, its a 5 min job to do but cna be fiddly to get the halfshaft back into place just unbolt the 5 smaller bolts on the hub and the whole thing slides out slide the gasket over the halfshaft and down to the hub and put the halfshaft back in. you might want to jack the wheel up as it makes it easier to line up the bolt holes again, make sure that the halfshaft goes all the way back into its place in the diff then re bolt it up and the jobs a goodun mikey
  18. http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.php?opt...3&Itemid=29 theres a link to the RAVE downloads. theyre free here or you could buy them from places like Gaydon i think? mikey
  19. try a RAVE disc i have 1 for the disco 1 it took me a while to get it set up and it confused me at first when i did get it set up though it is very easy to follow and much better than a haynes manual. mikey
  20. hi im not sure but if the engine is giving off smoke that means that the turbo bearing could have gone it happened to my mates disco 300tdi and a similar thing happened. take off the pipe and see if you can move the shaft side to side or up and down mikey
  21. good idea cheers. amd what size box section should i use?? mikey
  22. hi, i have recently taken my towbar off my disco as it hit just about anything i went over and gave me a useless depature angle. i am now looking at aking myself a quick detach version, it doesent have to be a very quick detach job, but i would like to save myself from taking the bumper on and off to put it on/off any tips? cheers mike
  23. im also making my own rock sliders for my 200tdi (cant upload pics of it) i would also be grateful if you could give me some information and tips on how to mount it, would it be a good idea to weld to outriggers?? thanks mike.
