  1. 5 or 6mm there is a simple answer get the guy who bought them to measure it lol products look good to me, but im going to be hard pushed to change from Gwyn Lewis Cheers
  2. We bought some Mickey Thompson AT tyres. For an AT tyre they are very aggressive and work excellent on the road. Off road there no different to mt Wrangler MTR's... The Cooper STT are a lot noisier on the road but are a good off road tyre so that's your compromise. I would get the mickey Thompson AT for that many road miles. Have done 40000 in ours and still about 70-80% left plus they have good side walls and lugs for an AT Cheers Will
  3. Good Job for adding this post, I wonder if the police could always do this and post pictures directly to a site like this? Cheers

  5. HI Tony not sure but my defender does the same... the only thing i noticed was as soon as the tock sound happens my volt meter goes up to 14volts - i reckon yours is the same and must be alternator related... be interested to know.. hold a volt meter on it before and keep it on while starting the car? Cheers oh i changed my alternator and it still does it so must be a relay somewhere

  7. Well i have the death wobble......................doh its not wheel bearings, steering box, panhard rod radius arms, drop arm ball joint, or track rod / steering rod.. going to try removing a shim from the top and bottom of the king pin.... only happens between 35-45mph and if your brave you can drive through it as over 50mph is fine again.... all very gay ill let you know how i get on Cheers
  8. Hi, just wondered how people got around the problem of how to fit a soft top sides down when you have rear body / tub sliders.. im thinking of drilling them and adding a bolt with a spin washer to try and pull the material flat but is there any other ways - without talking them off? Cheers

  14. prob is you cant hold an Allen key on it with a nut on it. think ill drop it in and use an air gun on it. With the upgrade on the wiring that goes from alternator to start motor to battery can i just add another wire from alternator straight to battery? Cheers

  16. Hi bit of an update. It is the alternator that needs changing.. i bought a second hand one from a 300tdi discovery however the pulley is different. I have tried to change it over but cant for the life of me get this one off, any ideas or tips? Also thought i might just get a new one and it seems the 65amp replacement part is £110 and the 100amp upgrade is £100 however i would will still need to change the pulley or buy a different belt? I'm a bit confused now can someone shed some light i just want to get her charging again with a simple bolt in bolt out job without having to change the belts as (i bought a few spare this size) and if i can upgrade it if it wont cost much to do so ... thank in advance Confused Will
  17. or you could fit the heavy duty lines... i have had mine on a couple of years now (20k road miles) some challenge events and play days and not had a prob. Cheers
  18. even though the volt meter is shownig its charging fine? seems really odd
  19. Hi my 1994 defender battery light has just come on after driving 40 odd miles. I have a voltmeter and it is still reading 13.5 when the engine is on and 12 when off... My batteries are both about 12 months old and seem really good (their the maxim type or whatever there called) Any ideas where to start looking and why it would come on when all seems fine and dandy? Cheers
