What type of beadlocker are they. If they are the bolt on rim style why do you say they are not road legal because the tyre is sat on a rim just held in place instead of relying on a bead.
As far as I can see there is no real difference between this type and split rims. If however they are the flat ring type then I wouldn't run them on the road and I can see why they would be illegal. Either way if you do as you say you will not be able to fit or remove the tyre.

I made some moulds and layed them up out of fibreglass. I wanted something that was wipe clean and waterproof.

I thought boosts were the only ones that fit early and later 110/90's with caps.

Things are still progressing well even with the rain I've managed to fit the heater controls. Because my dash doesn't have the screen or floor flap I've decided to use the heat/screen:floor controls for heat/shut off and the fan switch from the disco.
Just got to replace the cables and connect them.
Also whilst it was raining I made up some battery covers and a lip for the gearbox gaiter out of fibreglass.
Tonight was replacing the speedo cable as I had a defender one but I'm now using the disco binnical. Stalled on the battery covers because my compressor threw a rod last week so need to trim them at work tomorrow along with the door cards I made about 18 months ago. This left me with check straps and handle brackets on the front doors (the rears are more complex).

Our next event is Mannington near Verwood on the 27th August followed by seven sisters weekend in Wales on 23rd-24th Sept. We accept most offroad vehicles (not bikes or quads) subject to a few rules see the club website for details at www.shirelrc.com

I happily leave my phone to charge on a single battery over night with no issues in the morning. I've also charge my phone several times in this manner when camping. But as said the best is to run a split charge and second battery of some sort.
I fitted a second battery with a voltage sensitive relay (from a heated rear window set up) between the two battery's so it drops out when the engines off but opens when the alternator starts charging.
This is what I did for the fridge in the 110 while the wife's away on holiday with the kids.

I had enough trouble getting him to press record. To be fair it had already started briefly completely by accident when I finally found the earth fault on the starter relay, then I put some fuel in it.

Yes after a rocky start. There was an earth fault on the starter relay which took some finding but got there in the end.

Ok thats good to know just couldnt understand why it was never really spoken about as an option rather than converting drum axle ...thanks
Cost mainly, not so much now but disc Salisbury's used to go for £700+ whereas drum ones you could pick up for £200. Certainly that's the reason I converted the one on the ibex.

From this.
To this.
Not sure if it looks much better but it's all where it's supposed to be now.
Working:
Head and side lights.
Cooling fan.
Heater.
Wipers and washer.
Not working:
Horn.
Indicators.
Rear light (not wired yet).
Gauges.
I've fitted the mirrors but decided to leave them manual for now. The dash needed some repairs and alterations. I'm using the disco binnical so had to cut this section of the dash to make it removable. I also did the centre console while I was at it. It's been in and out a few times to get it to fit but I'm happy now so have started painting it.

I believe later disc axles had the caliper mount cast as part of the axle. Earlier disc axles had the caliper mount as a bolt on so at worst you'll need a pair of caliper mounts.
Neil110 the caliper mounts are cast steel by the weight of them.

I might be being stupid, but can't you just stick the transfer box in neutral with the centre diff unlocked and it should do what you want without any jacking?
Yes. But getting to all the nuts is easier with a wheel off the ground.

All I can say is why? When you could put a tdi in that will A. Fit without an adaptor B. Be more powerful and better torque and C. You know will work across the board. Yes it's more money than the Ford but a lot less agro.

Generally speaking a paint Mark signifies the bolt has been torqued up. The colour I would imagine is the department it was done in though this is a guess.
Most car manufacturers use the system of bolt head size for torque settings ie a 10mm head will be X torque regardless of the size of the bolt shank and thread. Likewise a 13mm head will be a different torque. Therefore the man on the shop floor uses one machine to tighten all the 10mm heads and another for all the 13mm. But don't use this as a definite because I can't guarantee how correct I am.

Pro comp are white with a boot like that so that would be my guess.

Looking forward to reading about the progress.
And not at all jealous about your month long workshop pass.....
Yeah but I did endure over a year of not getting anywhere near it. That and I did point out its a very expensive garden ornament so I need to finish it or get rid of it, which would be at a loss!

Due to the joys of photobucket I will be reinstating the photos in this thread over the next few weeks.
Also my wife is taking the kids to the mother in laws for most of August so I plan to spend every spare moment on the ibex.

Now the category system is repairable, parts only or must be crushed. The vic only checked the vehicle ID and I was told they only caught something like 100 ringers/stolen vehicles in the entire time it was in place.

Our 110 was a cat c when I bought it. I repaired it and put it back on the road with no issue they had ditched the vic and the category system as I was just finishing so ended up mot'ing it and insuring job done. I had to apply for the v5 which now states it's been written off and repaired.

Mines filled with ep90 though it gets over filled from the transfer box not that it's ever been a problem. Which winch have you got mines a fairey 525 it's an outstanding winch if a little slow for some people. But it will pull all day long.
