  1. I have been on here for years and your findings are true. I have met many through this forum that I consider friends some of those I've never actually met face to face. Long may it continue and seasons greetings to all.

  2. How about using either a jubilee clip or mikalor clamp with a shaped piece of nylon or Ali in between the cage and snorkel. So a triangle of nylon with the cage radius cut in the point and the snorkel radius in the base. Then the clamp around the lot, you may need a small fixing or location blob to stop the infill from moving.

  3. It cost myself and ash around £3000 to do tourist class at Ladoga in 09. That covered ferries, fuel, food, overnights and entrance fee. We took 3 weeks off work to do it but you could do it quicker (the event was 8 days). On top of that you need to build a truck. 45 cost me about £3000 to build and prep though I did beg and borrow a fair bit of kit.

If you have towing electrics with a constant 12v feed, you could always plug the charger in there instead? I did that on my D3.

I used the towing plug on my camping trailer to charge it on the drive for a while. It worked well, I then fitted mains hook up so fitted a charger. I used a Halfords motorbike charger 2 or 4 amps but more than enough to keep the battery topped. It's the one that looks like a ctek.

    In one word, it's painful.

There's an oh **** mode as well if you pull the handbrake while moving (car does as much as it to stop). Never plucked up the courage before I sold it as someone who had been through both a brick wall and tried it out said the brick wall was infinitely more preferable.

I've tried it from 70mph it actually stops quicker than if you stamp on the brakes. But make sure your seatbelt doesn't have any slack in it.

  6. You can use the top hose but you need a higher temp switch. In theory the temp coming out the top is relative to the temp going in the bottom. The bottom hose is probably more accurate though. I drilled and tapped the thermostat housing on the ibex (200tdi) but used the spigot closest to the rad and had to change from an 88° trigger to a 92°. I works bang on now.

The main reason for my choice was neatness.

  7. Ed it's a rotary pump on the 200tdi and they don't make any noise when knackered.

I've a similar problem on the 110, the brakes work but are a bit "wooden". The vac pump was changed (along with the engine) but it made no difference next on the list is the servo and master but I'm unlikely to do it anytime soon at the moment.

  8. That sounds perfect to me. That should put you at winnall (A34/M3 junction) about 5.30-6 there's a big Tescos just off the roundabout. Though it can be a pig to get back out of. Or if you take the 2nd exit to A31/A272 it follows along side the M3 where you can get back on at the next junction. There at least one layby on that section.

  9. Sikaflex/tiger seal will hold it on you may need to tape it in place over night though. However now you have used silicone you are screwed, once silicone has been used it's almost impossible to remove completely. It leaves a residue that nothing will stick to.  Sorry but I've said it before and I'll say it again the only place for silicone is a bathroom.......
