The ones that fit in the aperture usually run between a couple of bits of angle / u channel. The only concern I would have with a wide one is if you give them a push in the middle they pop out the runners at the side so I would make sure it's strong enough for your needs.

Or put a removable post in the middle to stop this.

  2. In my last place I had a 6x6.5m garage with enough room for three cars in front.

Here I have a single garage up a useless 7ftx40ft drive and enough room for three cars in the front.

Ideally the next place will have a double garage with a double carport and hopefully a extra space.

I've learnt that unless I'm building a car (even then a garage is a luxury) I don't need a garage as such just some dry space and a workshop.

  3. There is a bit of a gap behind the lower section between the spacer and flexi section. It does look a little odd from some angles but I'll live with that.

Inside is going to be very tight getting up between the wing and bulkhead then over the top of the heater. I feel some silicone 90° bends coming on.

  4. Today I've got the snorkel fitted. It's a defender mantec item so required so alterations. To cope with the different angle of the A pillar I've made a plastic block to angle the tube out by about 20°. As for where it enters the wing this required a 25mm spacer. I've made up a fibreglass spacer/inside tube arrangement but this needs cutting down as it's fouling the wing frame at the moment.

Start of hole in the wing (sorry my phone has decided not to focus any more).

It's not connected inside yet as I need to order some hose but I'm happy with the look.

  5. A van locally was found due to a tracker. It had been left in a housing estate with fake plates "to see if anyone came for It" I doubt they'll catch anyone but the van has been recovered. The track log led to a trailer being recovered, unfortunately the digger wasn't. So they definitely help.

I'm more than happy to develop a controller for EDC if anyone can pass on the technical specs on the back of a cheque ;)

Dumb question but surely megasquirt could be adapted to run a diesel.

  7. Due to a spate of thefts locally my mind has been attuned to the idea. I'm not under the misguided idea that you can stop it being knocked even chaining it down and taking the wheels off won't stop them. So trackers: sensible price, easy to fit/hide, preferably without or with a cheap subscription. Ideas and suggestions welcome, pm me if you don't want to put info up on here.

Why do you need the vehicle registration for parts identification in this instance?, it doesn't make sense, surely, all you need to do and all the parts department need to know is that you want belts for a 200TDi engine. Simple.

Because parts shops are staffed by spotty 16 year olds who barely know what a car is.

What is wrong with your old axle?  If you have easy access to a RRC axle, you may be able to use it as a parts donor - it's likely that a similar age RR axle will use the same suspension components, so all that would differ is the CV joints, drive flanges and brakes.

The mushroom style drive flange front axle (early range rover) is imperial so very little is interchangeable but the whole axle can be fitted with some mods.

Nearly all earlier 110's are bitsa's by now this is no problem unless you need an original truck, as long as you know where the parts come from. I have to given 3 different registration's when ordering parts.

The op wanted to build a spare axle up ready to just swap. I assume to have the minimum lay up time.

  10. The short answer is no. However there are about 4 variations on the front axle and they will all fit. But there are two different widths of radius arm so you may need them too. The front calipers are a different size on a range rover (smaller) there is also and imperial axle but I think the calipers will swap as long as you use the correct bolts. I'm sure there's more but can't think off hand.
