I can hold it in Southampton if it can get down here. I shall be going to Newbury sort out and hopefully adventure overland show. If that helps.

The discovery temp sender reads hotter than the defender from memory. This would explain why it's reading 3/4 normally which is high for a 200tdi. As fridge says it is unusual for a 200tdi to overheat. The causes are normally: head gasket, dead water pump/no belt (even a slipping belt is normally ok as the alternator will cause problems before the temperature), completely blocked radiator either external or internal or water leak/no water.

I would suggest your gauge it being affected by other electrics. Get it up to temp then turn everything on and watch the gauge if it moves let it settle then turn everything off. If it goes back to where it was you issue is electrical not temperature. Repeat with one item at a time to pin point the cause.

Fibreglass is where I would probably go if it were mine but I'm in the trade. The down side to fibreglass in this application is you either need to make a temporary mould or you sheath a thin ply frame. Both are time consuming and require additional materials. A folded aluminium structure can be made strong and watertight relatively easily.
It might be worth making a steel/aluminium frame then skinning it with sheet. That way you have something to attach hinges/gas springs to and allow you to stiffen the flat section to stop drumming. The skin could be glued on with PU adhesive to stop electrolysis and eliminate the need for fixings.

Another option is to make an aluminium angle frame bolted/riveted and sealed in the corners. Then you just drop in a flat sheet seal and fix.

Could you get the work done over here. In one of Shackletons SOUP episodes he makes his own folder might be worth a look.

A friend had your proposed problem on holiday in france/Italy. The pump failed on the way down this resulted in very heavy steering but drivable. What we didn't realise at the time was the pump shaft had sheared. So around 1000 miles later the pulley made a bid for freedom going into the radiator on the way out. We reckoned we could get the pulleys spinning with string or similar however it split the radiator. We towed it home the remaining 1000 miles.

If to sharp it fatigues and can crack warming/doing it in the summer helps.
This was 1.6mm from memory granted in a folder but your doing the same thing with wood.
The door was hammer formed around a 25mm box section frame.

I was told there is a way of self e marking but not sure. I think it's self certificating that your product complies with the rules but it is a different e mark I believe. As retro says whether these a actually legal or not I don't know. Personal I'm happy with my H4's and a new set make a world of difference over old ones.

I folded the roof section on the ibex using two bits of wood clamped either side of the fold line. You can then bend the majority by hand and hammering the last bit or by starting it by hand then clamping a third bit of wood over the bit your folding onto the internal bit of wood. Hardwood is better or angle/box section. You sometimes need to over bend a little to get your desired angle. The corners can be done with a flap folded in first (cardboard box style) which can then be riveted, glued (PU adhesive) or bolted and then sealed. I would rivet and glue an aluminium angle to the underside of the hole with it sticking upwards. Then make the roof section as above but big enough to fit over your upstand with more angle or a return fold on the roof. You can fit a door style seal on this return both tidying this edge and leaving a neat line outside with a hidden seal.

The flat pattern (British American) is legal here as long as it's e marked. I don't know the legality of having both a dot and e mark however bfg tyres certainly have both. Whether these particular lights are legal or not I don't know and there is a grey area around if they need self levelling or not, hid do but if I remember correctly if they are under a certain lumen led don't.

It does say e marked so should be ok with mot man. The American headlight pattern is flat and doesn't have a kick up one side therefore they are ok for left or right hand drive, they are also legal over here.

A disco chassis is quite different to a 90 chassis but it could be made to fit. There have been numerous hybrids built using disco chassis and 90 panels at various wheel base. Here there are legal issues which you will need to check in your country.

Hello, I am all new to the forum and I greet you. I would like the guide to help me, since I have a defender 90 200 tdi and my chassis is very bad, very rusty and deteriorated. It is possible to place a discovery chassis 1. Here you can not get a new hasis or defend. Someone who finds work and helps me with information, flat photos, everything will be fine. I write from Argentina

The Volvo d5 and one of the vw 4pots are used in marine applications so a stand alone ecu is out there.

Thats coming from either the rubber cap or the drive flange gasket. I have the same on our 110, I changed the cap which reduced it I now need to change the gasket.

If it has a ballast it's hid. Led don't need a ballast.

It would be a lot easier to fit another puma. Assuming you still have the gearbox you'll need an adapter (I believe it's been do for a 300tdi). Your dash may not work and half the engine wiring will need altering. Exhaust and gearing will probably need looking at. Engine mounts will be comparatively easy to sort.

I suspect he is getting confused with hid. You can no longer fit hid without self levelling and even then only if it was a factory option I believe.
Led as above if E marked there fine.

Adding to what TSD says you could use a coolant heater and fit an additional heater into the system. Eberspacher do a small matrix with a computer style fan on the back. There only about 4" cubed there are others similar.

Just bad luck I think. Remember 300's are quite old now. Let's face it my 200 snapped a cam just starting it.
