  1. LR 4X4 A small site that's slightly to the centre of left.
  2. If it's that bad, castor correction arms on there own will not be the answer
  3. I was pulled over in wales for having no mot. It ran out the day before. My mistake. The car was taxed and insured. The police said i coutd not drive it back home to cheltenham. I phoned my friendly solicitor, who stated in law there is no stipulated distance for a pre booked mot. Booked it in with a friend of mine, and continued my trip home. The police were there throughout, they were not happy, but as my solicitor stated "the law is the law".
  4. Just thinking of the balance, if you try some other wheels, known to be ok, it could eliminate part of the question. And for no money. As you say, it is a process.
  5. Interesting, this would explane why some do, and some don't. On that thinking I've been quite lucky so far!
  6. Brookers is correct, since I have put the standard prop on, I have not been off road. Try the bushes, and go from there.
  7. Hi there,I've got a RRC LSE on 35in tyres, 3in body and +3 springs. It also has QT arms on and DC shaft. A UJ went on the DC so I put the standard one back on and it's 100%. It will cruse at 80, had it upto 100 but you don't want to hit any bumps at that speed. For the caster correction arms, have a look at the Gwyn Lewis stuff, cheep and well tested. With the big tyres on everything has to be 100% or it will wobble.
  8. That sounds like the problem, thanks for your help
  9. Hi all, just had a very interesting drive home. Let me explain. It all started well, after about 30min driving I found it was staying in third. It would change into fourth, but not one and two. After a further 30min, there was a lot of juddering, then no drive at all. Oil is at the correct level. Reverse is fine, so as said the last five miles home were quite fun! The oil is quite dark, but no bits in it. The car is a 93 RRC LSE. Is it time for a new box? Or has anybody got any thaughts. Thanks for looking
  10. Hi there, i'd give the fuel pump a quick look if i was you. Not saying it is, but i'd have a look at the fuel supply.
  11. You'd get about £180 scrap, 350/400 on ebay or about 700/800 with an mot
  12. Don't get me wrong, but most TD,s ie astra, mondeo etc are faster, but that's not quite the point.
  13. I've had two go on me, and there have been no adverse noises at the time. Try the standerd test by jacking one wheel up, you should be able to rotate but with resistance. If not, then it has failed. The drive line on an RRC has an ability to transfer noises across axles,It can be difficult to locate where a specific noise comes from. Have you had a look at your uj's?
  14. Check the fluid level, if low, top up and keep an eye on it to see how quickly it drops. If it looses to much to quickly replace the stearing box. Recon ok for light use, for heavy useage go for a new one.
  15. I picked up my 93 lse, with lpg, new rear x member, alloy boot floor, vgc 92k in black for £1425. I've now done 3k in it and i'm happy as.
  16. I could not have said it better, by cheep, pay the price later. The choice is up to you
  17. As stated, NEVER swerve, you will only do it once.
  18. I run a RRC LSE on 35in tyres, +3 springs, +3 body lift. It's good for about 85 on the motorway, but everything has to be 110%. I would not advise any S bends! It is very sensitive to tyre presure. It's a lot of fun, and you will never fall asleep at the wheel.
  19. Hi there, at the moment I have an LSE, it may only be a personal thing, but after I put it on springs I found the ride a lot less jarring. As to the leagle side, the LSE is classed as a classic, and should be ok to alter back to springs. This is just my point of view and not to be quoted in a court of law
  20. Hi there, just did a camping trip to wales in my very over loaded LSE 4.2 on single point. Crusing on the M4 at about 85. The return trip took in the Strata Florida. 340 miles, £56 of lpg, average cost of lpg 56p. 3.4 miles per ltr, that works out at about 15 mpg. Happy days.
  21. Series 3 diffs will fit, and drop the gears. As it is free and quick, try this first and see how you go.
  22. I was in a P38 last weekend, it was making the same noise at the same revs. After a quick look, i found it to be the cats rattling.
  23. Sorry about that, it's a 1990 3.9 on standard ignition. I hope a grown-up comes along soon cos i,m about to throw my toys out of my pram! To put you in the picture
  24. Hi there, as you will see i'm having a little problem! The engine is backfireing through the induction system on no 3 cylinder at tickover, the rest of them join in as soon as a reasonable amount of throtle is applied. The timing is ok, cylinder head gasket replaced, no change. Replaced cylinder head with a known working one, no change. All other items changed ie ecu, air flow meter, injectors, new distributor, coil etc. No change. In the workshop manual it states that if you place a meter from battery pos to coil neg, you should get a reading of zero. I have 12.36v. This should show a falt in the amplifier. Change distributor and amp with a known item,12.36v! Any bright ideas
