  1. Hi All, Ive ordered quite a bit of stuff from them over the past few years, It does take an enormous amount of time for them to arrive. BUT, when the bits do arrive they are stunning quality. I spoke to Andrew about 3 weeks ago about a power steering pump reservoir that im after him making for me. A very helpful chap.. Oh my PS pump hasn't arrived yet but Ive ordered it well before I get to that bit of the renovation lol Andy
  2. Update, Ive just spoken to NFU. they could do it, but I would have to have at least my home contents insurance with them. They could then do it as an add on to my house insurance. something my current house insurers won't do... So for now I will continue looking, if no joy then will maybe have to go over to NFU for all the house stuff as well. Andy
  3. Im at work at the mo but will try NFU anyway on the off chance. Your right about it adding up, especially when you start looking at replacement values.. To buy it all again in cold blood would be impossible, Ive built my stuff up over 15 odd years.... in fact. now I think about it, I started my tool collection about a day after I got into Landrovers !!
  4. my house insurance won't touch it im afraid as its on an industrial estate (10mins from my house)
  5. Hi All, Ive just started renting a small workshop to continue my Disco renovation / rebuild. So far ive painted it, put up insulation and a new ceiling, re-wired it and am about to seal/paint the floor, then all the tools etc get moved in along with the poor old Disco. I was thinking about insurance for all of its soon to be contents. What do you guys with workshops do about insurance, have you any recommendations for companies to go to ? Ive had a poke about on Google but would rather go with someones recommendation.. Andy
  6. Really glad to see you back Jason. Andy
  7. Hi All, happy new year !! Just thought I would mention that after reading the post about the magnetic earth thing and Nigel's recommendation for SPA welding I thought I would give them a ring and sound them out about buying my first MIG welder, I spoke to Simon. He was very helpful and VERY patient !! And I now have a shiny new welder winging its way to me via courier, big gas bottle etc etc. and a couple of those magswitch thingys (one for my plasma cutter as well) Ive no connection with SPA just thought that good friendly (and patient !) service should be mentioned Andy http://www.spawelding.co.uk
  8. Hiya, did you mean me?? anyway my nanocom evo is tied in to engine type i.e. diesel -motronic- gems Ive used mine on many P38's as I have a licence for both types of petrol engines… Andy
  9. Ive got the nanocom, it works well as far as i can tell.. I believe that the hawk eye and the lynx cannot do the HEVAC at the mo Andy
  10. Ive got a BBS kicker thingy !! but its for a motronic engine, Its supposed to re-sync your engine to your BeCM you can borrow it if it helps.. Dont think it works for GEMS engines though.. Andy
  11. Ive done the same, I dont worry to much about getting the disc greasy, as I clean it all up with solvent when im done...
  12. Good to hear your doing well.
  13. If / when my p38 passes its MOT I was thinking of getting one of this company's boxes. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that the hawkeye doesn't do the hevac. Might be wrong. But there was something that I thought the hawkeye couldn't do. Sure a grown up will be along soon. https://blackbox-solutions.com/shop/
  14. Date depending, im in. If the Disco is finished will enter.. or help out in whatever way is useful for yourselves Andy
  15. Oh I've been rebuilding my rust heap for the last 8 months !!!
  16. I would recommend YRM as well. Also if the sills need doing ( mine did ) replace them with box section. There was a guy on eBay selling a very good fit heavy duty sill replacements.
  17. Thanks, ive just measured the internal of the ones I have and there 25mm so that might be the badger !! I spoke to someone at Ashcrofts initially, hence the ones I got. So I assumed we were talking about stuff relevant to my Disco !! Cant do much about it now, but its good to put my mind at rest. Andy
  18. Hi All, Does anyone know the part number for the circlip that goes on the end of an Ashcroft front shaft that holds the CV on ? I would ring ashcrofts but they are closed today. I was told it was the same as a normal one (TDL100240) so bought a couple. Have just tried to fit them but they are too small. They go on the shaft OK but are not big enough to hold the CV on... Any ideas... Andy Oh its for a 1997 300TDI Discovery with ABS....
  19. Kinda glad you said that I bought a 3"stainless system from Griffin exhausts a while back, haven't got round to fitting it yet though, hopefully should have it on by next week.....
  20. I also meant to say, I bought a complete BECM unit with 2 keys engine ECU locks, basically every thing I would need to chase out any electrical gremlins for £200.00. so even if it goes wrong its not silly money to fix.
  21. I bought an n reg 4.6 last october as my disco rebuild is taking forever !! Have to say I love it. The heater is possessed by Satan himself ! Some times it works other times its just crazy hot. I believe this to be the blend motors and I might get round to fixing them. There is a silly locking issue (the locks only work on the key not the bipper) But for me thats all the bad points on mine It goes well and is very comfy (im 6'8") also with all the seats folded down the loadspace is HUGE I was only going to use it till my disco is rebuilt so wasn't going to fix any of the faults just run it. But now I think I will keep it and fix them. The first thing I would buy before I fix any faults is a decent diagnostic box. I think there is a good one made by black box. I believe the hawk eye doesn't do a full diagnostics. The diagnostics come in at around £350 ish and would save trips to the dealer every time a light comes on. Although I've not had any warning lights come up on mine. maybe I got lucky but I love my one and enjoy driving it. Andy
  22. Hope this is relevant, I changed to 110 callipers on the front of my disco, I was told they had bigger pistons/pads. The braking was vastly improved (granted that could have been due to tired original callipers ) It was mentioned that my standard master cylinder wouldn't be up to it, However I didn't notice any real difference in peddle travel at all. After the mods I took it to my local MOT place who checked out the brakes on his machine.
  23. I have both a large and a small DeWalt 18v rattle gun. They are both great, although I tend to use the smaller one more than the big one.. It's great for getting in tight places. That being said the big one took the crank pulley bolt off my 300tdi without missing a beat, I tend to only use it when I need a lot of torque.
  24. Hiya, Ive done this to my Disco on the front and rear. On the rear I've gone from the T piece on the diff directly to the callipers. And from the front I've gone from the inner wing directly to the callipers (does away with the little solid brake pipe). Ive had no problems with this on or off road. I used large cable ties on the rear axle, I cut them off and just move the calliper when I need to do work on the hub. I got my brake lines made up by David at Llama 4x4. Andy
  25. Hiya, I fitted a full set (front and rear) of Britpart callipers and discs to my Disco about 5 years ago, I got them from Island 4x4. I wasn't aware then of the Britpart 'thing'. They have been spot on, they still look OK the pistons and seals are still in good nick. They were on my old tuned V8, it used to eat rear pads when off road so I was always inspecting them when changing the pads. Andy
