  1. Nope, no air-con on Fluffy...
  2. Good points Steve and that would be worth seeing, an interesting experiment. Would also be interested to see how the transmission copes with the power onto the road - any kind of ATs/MTs would suggest you'd have to be careful off the line and it all adds to the 0-60.
  3. (although the scoob is quite a giggle off-road too! )
  4. I know you could build a Tomcat for less than £10k ... but would it be *that* fast? ...and if it was fast would it be good? I think Mr Challis has a point, for it to be fast and capable of putting the power down and using it effectively you're talking lots of money. I'll stick with the Scoob for on-road and the Series for off-road - sorted B) (and cheaper ) ...although Jules, you're on to something there... must check behind the sofa for 10k! Bertha's in the garage at the moment, so it'll be interesting to see what comes out!! lol!
  5. lol, he's probably messing with your mind... Glad you're enjoying yourself, we had the fridge/freezer delivered yesterday (love ebay!) and now have the roof tent, so keep an eye in your rear-view for a Camel
  6. Don't worry, I'll print it out and make sure he gets a copy!
  7. Wahoo! I love these updates B) Hope you're still havin' fun Ali!
  8. lol! The Top Gear One was 0-60 was 4.8 wasn't it? So as my standard scoob is 0-60 in 5.2 it is quicker Still, I'd hope so for something that cost that much - my scoob only cost me £6,500! B) Lovely car and I love Top Gear, they can do no wrong in my eyes, entertainment like it's meant to be B) As for Mike B, he did claim he reckoned his 200TDi Tomcat was quicker than my Scoob.... then Dan took him out in the Scoob... strangly enough he hasn't mentioned it since Funny thing is, Scoob'd probably beat him on the twist off ramp too! .... < sigh > someone give him internet access, it's no fun taking the tiddle when he's not around!
  9. Not going this year Because with any luck we'll be up some Scottish track somewhere drinking Whiskey B) Needed a holiday and this was the only time we could fit it in with previous committments etc. Still, that and the fact the Rangie's in bits (again ) could have something to do with it! I think we'll be at the next one in my series rather than the Rangie the speed Dan's working on it! Have fun all. Jen
  10. Oh, how could I forget that - and now an old 'scout leader' favourite - add a shot or two of your favourite spirt before cooking ... mmmmm... B)
  11. ...yeah, ok - the steak etc. maybe the favourite - but the above is the 'normal'
  12. Personal favourite when camping is a steak and jacket potatoe which has been cooked on the open fire... with some local wine Mmm...
  13. Cunning trip when camping is if you need rice leave it in a flask full of hot water - by the time you've finished cooking other stuff/setting up/drinking beer you have a flask full of lovely cooked rice B) (although I hold no responsibility for what your tea tastes like afterwards! )
  14. Nice lyrics Jules B) (although I did think for a while you were going to ask about lyrics with the words 'Paris' and 'Berlin' in )
  15. P.S. Sorry to hear about your Mum bloke
  16. Hehe - it's only his Camel when I've spent a day working on it and I want a day in return from him on my old Series
  17. Righhhhhhhhhhhht....so when I go around Tesco's tonight I'm just shopping for one eh? Just for the record - FF's nissan cost £300 from a scrappy and 2 days earlier I'd just brought my dream car (mint condition). Who's going to push faster around the r'bout? I have 101 excuses and I'm sticking to 'em
  18. Oi! I had spent 5 1/2 hours doing colour treatment/polish and wax getting your Camel looking shiney! Besides, it was raining.
  19. Of course it's not just the cars ability that you have to think of - you can make anything useable on the road with the correct modifications, I've been in 450bhp Subaru's that drive with a smoother power delivery than those about the 370 mark. I'd still like to give the 1200bhp a try though Driver ability has got to be the key and the most important thing 'in the real world', my little 230bhp Scoob has no worries keeping up on runs with those nearer the 400 mark - but then I think I probably have to concentrate more! Equally I've seen the sport versions (no turbo) with instructors in eat much 'faster' cars for breakfast on track days. Pick the car for what you want from it has always got to be the key B)
  20. ...or in my 88" SIIA .... lol @ you and your dodgy photo's!
  21. @ Fridge. You know you love Jap 'rubbish' - after all, you drive a Nissan! Ooo, Skyline. Lovely! B) Meant to be a bit 'dull' to drive (I think that mean's it doesn't fall off the road all the time), but I'd certinaly give it a go. Anything that has a g-force monitor has got to be cool! ...I'd hold out though - there's a new model on the horizon IIRC... which might make it fall to £74990 That's always been my favourite Skyline and will remain in my 'Top 10 cars to buy if I win the lottery' B) Wish I could say something intelligent, but I'm too busy drooling now.
  22. B) Ali B) Looks like you're having a superb time. Can't wait to hear about all the stories/experiences. You've just made me a whole lot more itching to get on the road! B) Keep enjoin' it. Jen
  23. Ah, JU you know we love you too! Now Shire's just seem to have one of the best mags and one of the best websites B) ..all just IMHO of course You lot do a great job. (now I've finshed all that a*se kissing you have to help me with George! )
  24. I have! Most excellent, I love the caption competitions B) Sadley Chip's on holiday at the moment (well, happily for him I'm sure!), otherwise I'm sure he'd love this thread!
