  1. P.S. Sad to hear Eddie won't be making it
  2. He is MOST cute! And cool and indeed groovy! B) Sold Scoob, so funds will either be used for America trip or George... brought a little mini, same colour as Kylie was, amazing amount of Landy parts and quite a nippy little vehicle Would *love* to bring him to 7S and have ago around the WRC stage!! B) ...but Fred v's Landy probably wouldn't be a good combination (although he would probably go under Moglite/Petal )
  3. I know! lol! I think this is my 4th time... and I still havn't got a clue! lol! Last time we got lost and had to get back to the car park at the end of the day... we just started to 'panic', turned one corner and found ourselves on the road back to the car park! We'd been standing round the corner for 10 minutes trying to figure out where we were I can't wait, it's a great site and the more I think about it the more excited I get!
  4. Dan and I posted 39 'competitors' event info packs at the weekend, I think there's been a few more since then (info sent by e-mail)... with 16 odd vehicles marshalling that's probably over 60 vehicles - a good number for Shires first event at 7S I reckon. Once everyone (well, primarily the Marshalls!) knows the site better I think the next events could be HUGE B)
  5. Quality of driving is sometimes terrifying - Hampshire County have a good scheme, assessments for the over 60's with 'honest opinions' and 'helpful tips'... they don't have the power to remove licenses, but it's a popular scheme and a worthy one IMHO. Bike statistics are scary, they're the only type of accidents to rise in our County in the last year. Nationally bikes account for 1% of all traffic... but 18% of all Killed and Seriously Injured
  6. ( OT I know - but Mr H! B) How yer doing! Oh - and when did you take Kermitt swimin' and why wasn't I invited?! ) I'll have 10 x-ties please!
  7. Shh! I thought they were a secret X-eng development? Still, as the secret's out I guess I'll have 5 B) Do they still only come in units of 1? Can't be without 'em! Great show guys, loved seeing everyone again and even managed to stay awake quite long! Some of the vehicles were fantastic, loved Moglite, Wills truck and the sound of Richards Racer B) Dan's Camel now has his bullbars, he spent the whole day yesterday working on it and sorted out a few of the little problems. Can't wait until it's finished B) Lookin' forward to 7S B) Must rember veggie burgers for Mr Lang. Jen
  8. ...I think that's the point!
  9. www.shirelrc.com for info on 7S, just click on the dirty weekend section on the front page
  10. lol! Exactly, he's got a day off today as well so I expect Bertha finished by the time I get home ...tbh, George will probably be ready before Bertha... I've got the garage now and the chassis' lookin' ok! B) Anyway... 7S ... I think everyone should come. It'll be great
  11. 10910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910 10910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910 10910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910910 ...you know you want to! Should be a great laugh, lots of good people, BBQ, off-roading and of course chocolate B)
  12. Yup ...there's a fridge in the Camel now too... so lots of potential for lots of Cadburys B) Lookin' like 7S will be fun
  13. Yup - indeed he was! Very large intercooler and larger radiator will be collected at Malvern! B) Which gives me 4 weeks to do as much o/t as possible! lol! ...and you wonder why my series never gets worked on Must say, they did look pretty excellent though.
  14. I maybe a little biased, but the Subaru's do do well. Never any reliability issues with mine, very much a turn key car, my neighbour had the Forester and IIRC it never let him down either. Great at slippery slopes and more ground clearance than a Freebie.
  15. ...it's not usually you you have to worry about, it's the nutters coming the other way. The roads have got busier, yeah, I used to bounce around in the back of my Mum's mini too, but then traffic volumes and the capability of speed of vehicles has risen a hell of alot since then. The advice and laws are made as time's change. I'm sure any parent would want the best for their kids and would do anything to ensure they're not seriously injured should the worst happen? I'm all for letting kids get on with it, climbing and playing etc. etc. but when that 44ton lorry pulls into the side of your car 'sorry mate, didn't see you' - you'd want the best protention possible? I've seen pictures of the results of accidents without proper restriants. It's not pretty. If I have kids or I take my godson out, they'll be in proper restraints in my IIA, retro-fitting isn't that difficult.
  16. There is a spearate law that wil tackle this - as a large passenger vehicle they're excluded from this law - although school mini-buses aren't, so there's going to be some interesting problems there. IIRC many of the coach companies actually carry a stock of booster seats, they did this under voluntary agreement, but I doubt it'll be enough for a whole coach load. Be interesting to see what develops.
  17. This is quite important legislation - instigated by the emergency services. The problem with smaller people and adult seatbelts is the frequency of serious neck injuries and damage to internal organs, even under heavy braking Lap belts *must* be across laps, i.e. at the top of your legs, not accross stomachs etc. like they are on children without boosters. For once this isn't a useless bit of legislation - there is good reason behind it and no matter how inconvient I'd really urge people to take it seriously. After all, the majority of child casualities on UK roads are generated inside the vehicle. Jen (your friendly road safety officer)
  18. Good man B) Don't listen to the evil men! Btw, thanks for the door tops - you want more cookies? Or shepards pie before the next committee meet? (taking a week off to work on George soon, should be enough time to remove another floor pan )
  19. We've got 100's! Will get Dan to bring them along next time he sees you.
  20. Exactly the same thing happened to a friend of mine ... only it turned out to be a body in the road, they'd been the victim of a hit and run driver. If in doubt, wait until you're sure what's happening.
  21. Excellent news! P.S. Can I borrow it tonight?
  22. What a shame [whisper] JU, I'm going to put George on the trailer - see if you can swap them without him noticeing [/whisper]
  23. The Crichton's (? - Ian and Ilene?), always at the Landy shows and have written 'Chasing Rainbows', built their own roof tent... didn't look much like that though! Still, if you're at a Landy show might be worth having a chat with them
  24. Oh, and spent the whole weekend trying not to eat FF's cookies that are sat on the worktop in the kitchen...
  25. Bit of overtime on Saturday morning (who said local govt. was easy? ) ...then working on George the series - 10 minutes to take the fuel tank out, 6 hours to remove 13 bolts The person who rebuilt him beforethought it was a good idea to use 3" bolts which have all now rusted solid Also managed to get a grinding spark in my eye removing the old roll hoop mountings, despite wearing two lots of protection - eye glasses and safety googles. Sunday - gave up and went to the pub!
