  1. Hi, my speedo was a bit wobbly and erratic so I changed the cable last week and all seemed well, untill today driving up the motorway I hit 65 and the needle flickered and then died - no speed reading or any thing , does this mean I need a new gauge , is a 1988 90, cheers del

  3. its a 200 tdi lump with my old td alternator on it so im not sure if its a through bolt or would it be bolted on the front and on the back its the botton bolt that seems to pass through the power steering pump housing

  5. Ive got a bolt on my alternator (200tdi) that has sheared off , its the bolt at the bottom that seems to go through the steering pump . It has started making a clanging noise were its vibrating , how does it fix ? , whats the best way to tackle it? , any ideas would be appreciated, del

  7. hi all noticed ive got a power steering leak on the top of my recon steering box , is that unusual? ive noticed as well as that the steering is a bit stiff , i changed the last box because it leaked at the bottom , its only a weep , what would cause that?

  9. do you recon if i look out foe a defender 200 tdi temp gauge at the autojumbles that would solve it ? , its sort of panic over with the tempreture reading as the engine is warm to the touch even with the high reading , changed the heater matrix and with the cooler 200 engine ive noticed the heater isnt so hot is that normal?
  10. are defender 200 tdi and disco tdi dipstick lenghts the same? i think ive got a disco dipstick in my defender block ,the oil reading goes way past the min max levels -any ideas-
  11. mine is a defender 200 tdi block with a disco head and its got a defender thermostat and housing so its a 5/8unf thread but still seems to send out a high reading -
  12. ive tried a prc 8593 , and i dont know what the original sender fitted on my conversion 200 tdi into a td 90 but both have produced a just under the red reading i dont know if any one has any suggestions of what to try next?

  14. I think ive put in about a litre too much, but it was smoking before i changed the oil ,thought it might be the injectors that were at fault but had those checked and adjusted and the were ok. So im thinking its the oil piston rings letting oil into the combustion chambers causing a missfire and smoke
  15. hi all would overfilling my 200 tdi cause it to missfire and plume out blue smoke?
  16. dont know if any one has any suggestions , ive just had a 200 tdi put into my 90, got it back and it was missfiring badly and pouring out smoke on start up my mechanic told me it was a duff injector , i took these out and they were re calibrated and i refitted them this morning but ive got exactly the same , not so lumpy but pumping out plumes of blue smoke for a good 10 minutes .blu is burning oil isnt it?

  18. Next problem in my engine change saga is the fan . Ive put a 200 tdi in my 90 fitting a set of p38 double fans and a thermo switch thats operated with a thermal probe fitted it the top hose. When the truck has stopped the fan keeps running obviously sensing the hot water after about 10 mins i ended up disconecting the fan thinking by the time the waters cooled down its going to run the battery down,anyone got any suggestions?
  19. went to the garage today and was reasurred it is a dodgy injector so apperantly hes getting some next week
  20. its also missfiring for about the same amount of time then sluggish when first driving, its a real tiddle off just waited 2 months for the engine to be fitted its a 200 def lump and a 200 disco head so far its cost me £2000 and its pouring out 10x the amount of smoke compared to the old td

Ive got an unbelivable amount of blue smoke pumpimg out of my 200tdi on start up, thats burning oil isnit? ,started it tonight and it was like a start of a jack the ripper film proper 1850s london smog , takes about 10 mins to clear ,any sugestions ,taking it back to the mechanic tomorrow as engine has just been fitted
  22. As a temporary measure would it be ok to disconect one of the fans and up the fuse the other one to 25a. The feed used to power up a pair of 9" landrover spot lights are they fused at 15a?
