  1. Carloz is right, as long as it is before 1998 it is almost without restrictions although I think if you would put an LS engine in a a 2CV that would raise some questions
  2. Awesome thread and a lot of info. I am currently trying to squeeze in a M111 Mercedes petrol engine in my series 150Hp & 220Nm (not so impressive number with regards to a diesel but enough for my series with an LT77). The reason why I am replying is it uses the same bell housing patter as the OM603 and derivates. I already have an adapter plate to a LT77, so if anyone needs one I could try and let it copy in auto cad so you can have it fabbed up locally. Cheers, Bowy
  3. Lucky that I am going for a petrol then, no injection pumps to go wrong
  4. It is actually from a 220E. But seems to be the same engine basis. What was wrong with the SsangYoung musso ones?
  5. Just stumbled across a Mercedes engine nearby. It is not the 102 but the later M111. 150HP and 220nm at a bargain price that is delivers more HP per EURO than any LR engine I've ever bought;) . Now I can start with the conversion as I have also sourced the conversion plate. Thank you all for looking and thinking!
  6. Useful tip Soren, luckily the B20 and B23 share the same bell housing so if I can find the adapter. Do you know where to source such a part? I am planning connecting it to a LT77 but should be the same result.
  7. So the Volvo engine is definitely a good one quality wise and power wise. Only the adapter might be a small issue. Any opinions on the Mercedes one?
  8. I am working on finding an alternative for my underpowered 2.5 petrol engine in my series. I am considering 3 conversion options and am wondering if anyone has ideas or experience with one of these 3 options? All three are injection and about 135 to 140 hp with approx 190nm and are 4 cyl ( I can not legally fit a 6 or 8 cyl). In the Netherlands they are readily available. All three are relatively easy on LPG which is also important for me. They all have the exhaust on the propshaft side but this should be manageable. Mercedes M102 2.3 petrol injection (normally sits in 190E or 230E) 134Hp 201Nm Adapter for the the gearbox to engine readily available Ca 200kg fully dressed, Cast Iron Volvo B230 (F) 2.3 petrol injection (Normally sits in a 740, 940 and 240) 136Hp 190 Nm No adapter found yet, but should be able to fabricate this Ca 200 kg fully dressed, Cast Iron BMW M42 1.8 petrol injection (Normally sits in a E36 318ti, si) 138Hp 175Nm Bellhousing is a creative solution to fabricate since this engine has no bell housing but doable. approx 150kg fully dressed, aluminum block Please let me know if you have any opinions or know of any successful projects documented anywhere online. Cheers Bowy
  9. Dirtyninety, good to hear you will be there again! We will also be there this edition as firewood marshal
  10. Hi Si, Thank you for the extra information. Sounds like a good show then. But unfortunately I won't be able to attend, my codriver his girlfriend has decided he can not be away for the fith weekend in a row Probably see you at the next show! Might even visit the Skipton 4x4 and spares day. Cheers, Bowy
  11. haha thank you for the kind words, but if and that's still a big if I will be visiting, I think I might do a lighting visit with the daily runabout Billing and maybe even KOV will be in the 127!
  12. Any update on a possible autojumble, need to start booking the ferry And Simon, not that Old
  13. Will there be any kind of autojumble for second hand parts, tempting to maybe visit my first ever indoor show in the UK. Only a 1200 mile round trip, but always cool to score some bargains and meet up with some old friends!
  14. Mated to my 5.7 I have an Allisport uprated V8 radiator, with 2 16 inch spal fans, and it now runs substantially cooler then before with a standard radiator. So another vote for upgrading.
  15. Thx for the input, Already what I was thinking Welding on a different set of brackets is an option, but quite a lot of work when the axle is under te car. So probably will try to sell these and try to find a different set and take my losses. Cheers Bowy
  16. I have a Salisbury front axle on my defender which has the 46mm wide radius arms. I bought a set of castor corrected ones, had them galvanised, powder coated and now found out they are the 52 mm variety. So together with the 52 mm bushes they won't fit. But together with the 46 mm bushes they do fit, but clearance between the arm and axle is really tight. Will this be a problem? Any experience? Cheers Bowy who's slapping himself in the face that he bought the wrong arms and even invested an extra 100,- in galvanizing/powder coating
  17. Went to see them last night, and unfortunately he only had rears (which I already have) and on second inspection onewas twisted about 120degrees at one end. And one was worn down (about 1mm) somewhere 20 cm from the end by use of the wrong stub axle. He tried to convince me they were as good as new and I was "allowed" to buy them at have the new price. Twisting according to him was normal and the strength shouldn't be affected as was surfaces wear. So I just left him and his axles where he was, what an &^*#$. Cheers Bowy
  18. A friend of mine got some halfshafts lying around and thinks they're HD ones from Ashcroft, but is there a way to identify them? Are there any easy to spot differences with standard shafts? Same thing for CV's. Cheers Bowy
  19. Had brilliant weekend! Was a bit overweight (ca 1000kg) on the way home, but probably just because at 16.00 there was a RRC which was a complete bargain so we accidently bought it. Was glad I brought my 20 ft tri axle trailer. Happy with a few real bargains! My best buy must be a 5HP outboard motor which is a almost 200% upgrade for my current 3HP and that for 20 quid I'll be there next year! Hoping my mate will be done with his aluminium rim fetish, he bought like 42 rims Cheers Bowy
  20. I presume that a 2500KG 127 with 250hp/430+Nm of torque, 4 inch lift and 36 inch tires is a bit outside the standard application of the bushes . So I'm going to live with it and try to replace them with the best available one.
  21. They are the same width so not early and late ones. But I think Idris is right that they will probably limit the flex and that is not what I'm looking for. For now I'll fit the rubber ones. PolĂ˝'s are not my cup of tea because I push the truck hard offroad. Cheers Bowy
  22. My 127 is going through a set of radiusarm bushings in about 5K miles. So Now time to replace them again. I wil most definately fit a set of OEM ones. But going through my shed I found 2 variaties. Can anyone tell me which ones are stronger and if they have different part numbers? (don't watch the red paint) Cheers Bowy
  23. Great! See you there then, I'm the bloke with a big yellow 127 V8 and a large firebowl and and few cubi foot of firewood
  24. I will be staying at showcaves on thursday night then, will arrive at &S on friday. Happy to share a few beers on thursday night! Anyone with greenlaning tips in the surrounding area? Cheers Bowy
